Carbon Fiber Drive Shafts
How do these things hold up on hard launches?
something to put into a drag car? a 4lb driveshaft sounds kinda cool if you ask me. I've never been a huge fan of carbon fiber body work. The hoods, mirrors, gas caps. All that jazz.
But would a CF drive shaft hold its own behind a turbo 3 rotor? Or would the high rpm launches be too much for it?

I had one when I ran a stock tranny. You have to realize the stock driveshaft is already pretty small and never really breaks anyhow. You'll save a few lbs but Im not sure it did any benefit.

My entire car revolves around that. haha!
I figure Ill end up running some different driveshaft once the Liberty is put in.
Ive never broken a driveshaft with a rotary before. Then again, None of my Rx7's have made much over 450 to the wheels. And Ive never tracked an Rx7 with more then 400whp.
I DESTROYED a couple driveshaft on my Mustang. One stock on, first the balancer broke off on a launch. Then on my second run it crunched the entire shaft. So I went to an aluminum shaft. And that twisted under a 200 shot. Tires hooked like glue. I was running a 10" tire that day. And I didnt think the track threw any VHT down. but sure enough. haha
Then I went to an OEM shaft again, and did one more pass (same day that I rolled the aluminum one) And it shattered, and fucked up the car really nice. lol

The best places to lose weight are things that rotate or unsprung weight. But, with that said, I would have to agree with Ernie on this one. Although you are going to lose a little weight and gain a little strength.....for the cost, I would recommend putting that money elsewhere.

The car should be right around 2100-2200 with a full tank (20 gallon), and without me in it.
Give or take a few.
Really depends on what goes in for interior.
