Exclamation Burning Out

Alright, here i am again with a curious question... and its silly for the most part... but im not as wealthy as i could be right now so im a bit concerned in damaging anything. So here's my question:

What is the proper way to burnout? (This doesnt mean drifitng)

My friends tell me you shift to first while holding the clutch, while reving your engine up and down then finally reving it real high and let go of the clutch...

This is where im confused... do i.... IMMEDIATELY let go of the clutch? like... instantly lift off my foot, or do i slowly let it go... I would imagine if you instantly let it go it can do some damage to the engine, or tramsmission... im just real nervous and paranoid when it comes to putting my rx7 to the limit. If you can help me out, so i can understand this alot more clearer that would be great! Thanks.

Oh quick note, I was reading the "redlining" thread and i did just that, i red lined my car twice (in neutral) and rev'd it up to 7500 RPM (500 before redlining) in 1st gear... i gotta tell ya, it felt good. Im not sure if i knocked off some carbon ( i have yet to test it out today) but the engine, and tranny ran smoother. Thats why im here... to learn ^^ Thanks everyone.

Depends.. I just rev up, release the clutch, then move my clutch foot over to the brake to modulate the burnout.

Dude! NEVER race your engine up to redline in neutral. That is not good for the motor. When we talk about redlining to clean it out, we're talking about a 2nd or 3rd gear pull, not a standstill rev-fest.

ohh... hm... dont i feel stupid~ So can you explain why it isn't healthy for the engine while standing still? Whats the difference in doing it in 2nd or 3rd?

Yeah redlining while in 3rd gear is the easiest way to keep a load on it and actually obey the speed limit, well to some degree (at least on a highway)

well, for 1, there is not enough or no air going through your radiator and oil cooler

i was always a bit curious about this, can we clarify this a little more? what does placing a load on the motor change? i'm assuming that the load is just a safety net, something to damp/slow the motor's revs?

for doing a burnout in my na, i have to dump the clutch, and i have to keep reminding myself of that. the fact is the car has no torque, and it needs all the help it can get to spin the tires. if you have a stock clutch, dumping it (letting the pedal out as fast as you can) shouldn't be terribly harsh on your drivetrain.

well a breakstand is wher tha car dont move but the tires ing the back are spinning mad crazy burnout is wher you spin rear tires from over acceleration as in driving away wille leaving smoke and balck marks

basically, starting a "burnout" while holding the brake pedal with your right foot heal, toes on the gas... keeping just enough pressure on the brakes to slow the car down, seeing as the front brakes grab a little sooner then the rears usually

ya thats exactly right, i forgot to metion that, becouse like ruffly 70% of your braking power is up front so you can hold the car still and turn rear wheels just heel on brake toe on gas rev up a good bit pop clutch in first and controle throtlle acordingly
