All the big HP drag guys

i haven't posted on here in forever but something has been bugging me. i've seen a bunch of high hp (well over 600whp) 7's over the past couple years but, why haven't they had lower et's? what's holding these things back?

You must not have kept up too well, the guy in the video above you runs 9.0s or 9.2s in his second gen and is responsible for several 10 sec NA rotaries

V8Killa was not built to be an all out drag car.. It was built to be a fun, reliable street car..

Do you think it's easy to run low 9's on a FD with factory IRS?

I'd say its the gearbox and rear end that are holding most back.

I think you will be suprised to know what the real power numbers were for the guys running in the 9's a few years back. I do not believe most ever let that cat out of the bag. Seems like 650 is the magic # on the right suspension to go upper 9's. Also most the cars you see on here making 600+ lately are street cars. Cant compare that to Ari's, Ray's, Adam,s ..etc...

Was Drag racing two weeks ago, my friend James in his FD still IRS with HKS dog box develops 495rwhp attained 10.1@139mph nearly a 9, its fully street legal still. So just under 600hp fly should get you a 9 second run if everything is setup correctly

Sounds about right for a good driver and well set up car, but my above post was geared more at stock driveline-IRS cars. Once you start changing tranny's and rearends its a differant story..

Also whats his weight? was he on slicks?

i can understand the street car but, my man ernie t been around forever. he now produces some very good numbers. he should be in the 9.1-8.9 range. another thing i don't see many 7's pushin 40- 50 lbs of boost. why not? if you're going to drag you're going to need to push the engine. get some race gas and let her go!

I was just saying you have to compare apple's to apple's. I also thought Ari did it too.

It's very hard to run a 9 second pass with the stock rearend and trans. I would say the stock trans is the BIG limiting factor. Most have given up and are now throwing in a G-force, etc.

I agree, it makes a huge difference swapping trannies out, or launching on a properly setup solid rear, it's not fair to compare hp numbers to how fast people should be going. I think people should give some more credit to trap speeds, they are more closely related to hp numbers than et is.

Ari has the fastest time on a stock trans, but I didn't know he was running stock rear end too? 9.67 or something crazy?

That's wat I was thinking. But I always wondered why no one has trapped 150mph when their hp numbers is more than enough to do so. Even with a bad 60ft, all of those 700 hp cars should be trapping 150 mph. Everyone is shooting for the lower ET ofcourse because that wins the race, but the higher mph seems to impress me more because I care about the engine's true potential.

I was gonna let him slide but his mph should be higher than 150. I thought he should be around 155 or better.

The reason why most aren't running high trap speeds with all that power is because the cars are heavy.

what do you consider "heavy" I think our cars a quite light compared to alot of other cars on the market.
