TX Alcohol vs water to air

hi there i have beem trying to find out what is best for a 1/4 track car but i had no luck so ill just ask here. at this time i have a front mount intercooler 3" in & 3" out i was thinking of removing it and runing a water to air intercooler setup the one option.2 i was told to just run alcohol and do away with both intercooler. I am running VP import racig fuel right now. This is $24 a gallon. I know alcohol would be cheaper but what is better? The car has a full stand alone haltech.

100% meth if your just tracking the car,
with that said, you will need to double your fuel system in size to compensate for the meth, also have to have a fuel pump rated for methanol. Your normal fuel pump cant deal with meth.
q16 should be abetter option for you then vpimport, you will need to re-tune but not drastically
meth is like3$ per gallon.but not just a put it in the tank and tune conversion.....

I use to run a water/air intercooler. What a pain in the azz over the last few years. Now on a air/air and E85. Yes the air temps are higher at the sensor that is before the t-body but assume temps at the motor are lower. Plus E85 is so much cheaper. Going with a small water/meth injection nozzle just after the intercooler to help with the air temps. (next month)

Meth is 6$ a gallon. Uses twice as mush if not more. So the price of fuel is the same.

E85 is 3.40$ a gallon. Uses 30$ more then gas.

I use to spend 100$ every time going to the track. Now it's 40$ and actually making more power at the same boost level. Win win for me.

Any one have the info on ftw fuel the price? So far I've seen that it gives more power than e85 on the same tune.

With E85 you're still going to want an intercooler. A good air-to-air IC with E85 will work great.

Bumping this back to the top, b/c I would like to add in another question. Has anyone tried E98 in a rotary and it be successful? In this crap hole town I live in, there is only one station that sells E85, and it is actually E78 when I boils down to it. I can get E98 from a fuel dealer and at a good price. I'm on the ropes about my fuel system at this current moment and in the middle of my build. So any info or input is much appreciated! Thanks.

E78 will do the trick! I have tried E98 just to pass emissions, but didn't notice any performance difference between E85.

E98 will be better from a performance and fuel consistency standpoint. If obtaining it isn't expensive or a hassle, I'd run it over the pump sourced Exx.

well, Im running twin denso pumps. The bosch ones are good too. I dont think the issue (i could be wrong) is the pump. What the most important thing to do run oil that mixes well with the ethanol.

There is a thread on here with a test done on fuel lubricants which brought up some interesting results.

Alcohol is going to mean a lot of oil changes, and more maintenance. E85 and liquid air is what I would run.

I'm more than likely going to go with twin Aeromotive 340 pumps. I have always used Castor 927, it's synthetic based so it burns cleaner, and also I always have it around with racing motocross and all. But I haven't had a metering pump on the car since I put the engine in it, and used that brand oil as a pre-mix, and I recently pulled the engine apart to port and overhaul, and the rotors have barely any carbon what so ever. So I will continue using that as a "top oil".
