accident at California speedway fontana
when rules, regulations and procedures are set there is a good reason for it.i have tested my trans brake on the ground at fontana, but when i did i drove the car to the east side of the pits were the closest car or person was at least 1000 feet away.with what happened yesterday i will not test the trans brake on the ground again.for us automatic transmission guys this is a real eye opener.i was not there yesterday, this is a quote from PSCA racing message board;"I was pitted right in front of him when it happened. Luckily I and the rest of the Jr dragster participants including the kids were at the starting line when the accident happened. He was warming up his dragster, when he tried the trans brake the throttle stuck wide open. His car was not on jack stands and it took off through the pits driving right through where the kids were just 15 minutes earlier. He steered around my car and 1 other but had no where else to go when he hit the trailer under full power approximately 80 + mph. He traveled about 400 ft or better before he impacted the 5th wheel which burst into flames but was quickly extinguished. My heart felt condolences go out to his family and friends."care and respect for what these machines are capable of doing is a must.there have been two racers that have passed with in a year due to injuries sustained at the track.one in the pits and one on the track

so the driver died?
i Recall the same thing a few years back,(luky his car didn't take off)........One of our sport compact competitors,Turbo Joe had a Ford focus wagon,he was trying to spool up the car at a Booth where his sponsors was and the crowd was just right in front of the car.......so this guy turns on his drag Ford Focus.......puts it in trans brake then he full throttles the car trying to make the car boost on the rev......i was like,if that thing takes off ,there will be lots of tragedy. One of the organizers saw what he was doing and at the same time he just bolts up
to Joe(Driver)yelling at him "TURN THAT **** OFF DAMN IT",the organizer pulled the driver out and just shitted him in the face and the crowd. That was a big relief, dumb guy trying to show off....
I never like to leave my car unattended when its on......sometimes i get nervous when i rev the car at high RPM on the pits.......
Sorry to hear about that but its a lesson to be learned.

Yeah, I just heard about it from my Dad. Glad no one else got hurt. It could have been really bad. I see idiots testing their two steps in the pits right behind other cars and spectators all the time without jack stands. It's amazing that there's not more accidents that happen. Be safe everyone and use your head.

Here in Alabama there is little tech if any. Pits are open to everyone. I see guys on motorcyles riding wheelies and such. I really wish the pits were for racers only and there was fully tech inspection on all cars. Last track I went to in Montgomery I asked were was tech at and they had no idea what I was asking. Cars went in the 9's with nothing more required than any type of helmet.
sorry to here about the driver.........glad everyone else was ok.
