Don't know how much he's running now as since boost has gone up it hasn't been on the dyno. Builders estimate in the region of approx 600rwhp.
Car has been lightened slighty I think abot 1100kg without driver.

a really good driver, who ran about 11 back to back 9 sec runs. The hks t51 is actually clipped(was damaged by flying apex seals on previous car by previous owner, and damaged wheel had it's blades filed down). The rx8 box was fitted because it takes a lot more abuse than an fd one does. dss rear shafts 4.1 final drive, custom fuel tank. Car will be a lot faster in a few months from now with some new parts pending to be fitted.
Here's a vid of one of the slower runs

berry interesting, I always heard the "internet pro's" talk about how the rx8 tranny was trash.

Chris did 14 nine. sec runs on the current RX8 box,and a few 10 sec ones.
During the last burnout he did,he bounced off the limiter,at 12,000rpm.Since then the gearbox has become a little stiff selecting gears!
He has had the same engine since starting drag racing back in January this year.I had it apart once ,to make the ports bigger.
The car made 451.9 rwhp at 1.1 bar with the bigger port.Boost finally settled at 1.8 bar on the strip.
Water injection was fitted, but it has never worked,so is coming off.
Car has chrome-moly drive shafts,an unknown clutch type LSD,and an OS giken twin plate clutch.
He only has air suspension on the rear, the front has standard shocks.
Car is back in my workshop,to find more power for 2008,we have 9.1 set by Dragon perfomance to beat! Also going to fit an LT10s to replace the LT8 so we can tune above 20psi and 9000 rpm!

Yeah I am still leary about this "stock" RX-8 6 spd.

I know of several people who have had problems with them in the factory RX-8. And the guys in PR who did the 20B swaps broke theirs almost right away.
Obviously they dont want to give away their secrects...which I can understand.

could be the clutch they use allow for some slippage off the line
reducing the initial shock that breaks them.........

The air suspension may have something to do with the lack of damage.
Awesome 60 foot times for a IRS FD.

On one attempted launch he did manage to snap both driveshafts, the RX8 box handled that! We then bought some chrome-moly ones,he went out and did ten 9 sec runs in one weekend.

There is a secret to the 8 box......it comes in a white bottle and looks like ketcup! That aside, I'm running the same stock box in our Time Attack FC, and have run a best time of 11.3 @ 126mph on circuit setup(with hoosiers)

This is what we have to contend with over here.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U6bVDdudZ0o

Stripped the motor last week, pleased to say it was in mint condition. Tim is going to take the oppertunity to "tickle" the primary ports, and then it will be going back together for the new year.

See if we can push a low 9 on the 8 transmission. Be a shame to have to change it for some over worked drag monster box that requires a degree in astro physics to maintain.

Twin plate OS Giken by the way

If the car spins the wheels like in the video everytime that's probably why the tranny last.

Thats the funny thing.... there are plenty warranty issues with these boxes in RX8s, but we seem to be fortunate in choosing strong boxes!
