In drag racing you combine engine power and lowest allowable weight, logically. Plus a few other minor tricks. The engine and rest including chassi/body must be completely trickout. THATS THE difference between non record holders and record holders, get it? cheers!

transmissions? so that means you can do 9.6et with the right trans? more to the engine builders (think!!!!sometimes over 12,000rpm off the line, plus the high horsepower engines they build) and also to the drivers, for their skills and experience...! etc, etc. Its more than you may think.

Not trying to take anything away from these amazing runs, just letting you know how crappy we have it here as far as rules for the rotary vs piston.

True, but in the U.S. there are weight restrictions and rules to be able to run and compete in competitions in the all motor classes. For example in the all motor class we have, you have to run stock chassis, no tubbing, 9" tire is the largest you can use and you have to weigh 1850lbs with stock trans. If you use clutchless- add 100lbs, if you use methenol its another 50 or 100lbs. So most of us have to weigh 1950lbs+ and we are running againsts Hondas that make more power that weigh 1600lbs. I don't know what the weight restrictions are in PR but those starlets look pretty light.

..but you have to understand that back east, Florida, and PR all build cars for personal enjoyment and not for any sanctioning bodies...this is the primary reason why sanctioning bodies like nhra sport compact do not click with these type of racers. build the car for yourself and tell the regulating bodies to get lost.

I hope so.... BOTI and IDRC rules for rotary are a f-ing joke to say the least. They are all geared so that the Honda is in first place and no matter what we say they don't change anything. Honda mph-150, Rotary mph-125-130. Honda weight 1600lbs, rotary weight 1950. WTF??????????????????? Are they that stupid blind they can't see how unfair it is? I'm sure it all comes down to fing politics!

3/4 chassis or not, these cars are making some impressive et's.
I say forget building your cars to anyones rules, if i had more time and $ i'd make my car alot more lighter than it is. my car weighs 1960 lbs with me in it

I agree with Beefcake makes my turbo efforts seem very gay lol
Me and the car need a diet, the car,me and quarter tank of fuel weigh 2815 lbs, Im allowed to run 2297 lbs in the class I run in.

I just read the rules for this class- pro stock in the NSCRA series. There basically are no rules other than tire size and min weight.
Good for these guys and guys who have tube chassis or 3/4 chassis cars, but for us racers down here on the West coast, our cars are all setup for stock chassis and max tire size of 9" and min weight of 1850lbs. In order for me to convert to this class I would have to sell my house and live in a cardboard box. If this series moves to the West coast, I don't think there will be many rotaries running in this class. A little too late for me to change over. I guess I'll just chase my own goals and the stock chassis record. Unless I win the lottery.
