have been looking at purchasing a 5 speed transmission for my 20b car...
have been looking at second hand as thats my budget at moment.
at moment have sfi clutch can to suit lenco/b&j.but may consider using a liberty trans.
just want some advice on ratio choices i should be looking at when considering buying something.
so far have found these...
a cs3 5speed lenco with these ratios...3.36 1st/2.46 2nd/1.80 3rd/1.31 4th/1.1 5th.
a 5 speed liberty with these ratios... 1st-2.40, 2nd-1.82, 3rd-1.41, 4th-1.14 5th-1:1.
and another liberty 5 speed with 3:25 low gear.

anyway was wondering if anybody might have some advice on a racing transmission for a 20b engine?...
(our engine is pp and turbod with 75 shot of nos).

 

gear ratios depend on lots of things, HP, Tire size, rear end gear, vehicle weight, rpm shifting/power curve, my advise for a 3 rotor turbo combo would be 2.7 first gear to start

Hey Ben, I got my Lenco CS3 here with a spare gear that I can make a range of ratios with... At the moment its set up with a 2.93 first, which I think is pretty good for a big tired 20b...
