1st track day ever with my modded RX-7 need suggestions badly...
1993 FD
intake, full 3inch exhaust, upgraded intercooler and fuel pump, PFC, pulleys, boost at 13psi= 310hp and 275 ft/lbs of torque
(17inch Volk Gram lights 8.5 front with 245s and 9.5 rear with 275s)
I have some questions:
~What would be the best rpm to launch my car at so i can get maximum traction without burning out?? Im assuming higher since i have the 275s.
~What should I shift at?.....my rev limiter is set at 8200 rpm, but i usually shift at 8000.
~Should I throw in some 103 octane gas, because a place right beside the track sells it?
~Are there any other tips you guys can give me? This is my 1st time ever going to a dragstrip and i really want to do my best. I am hoping for a 12.9, but I will be satisfied with a low 13.

my advise to you is you need to know your powerband to know @ what rpm to shift.every vehicle is dir]ferent due to different setups also is best to launch at what ever rpm you tires are going to have better tracktion and that all depends on the tire you use, also is best to tune your car with the type of fuel your going to use the day of the track for best results.

Practice practice practice every car is built different, runs different, and all in all feels different to each individual driver. He/she has to find his/her comfort zone and perfect his/her driving skills to each track condition that he/she encounters. But it seems as though your car is heading in the right direction. What were your times at the track? Studying that alone can help improve driver error and so many other aspects of the car and things that he/she can improve on.

I would suggest that before you plan on launching at a high RPM you make sure your rear diff can handle the abuse (i.e. wheel hop). Without a upgraded LSD, Street ET tires, and softer suspension you could easily break the torsen and rear diff casing like I did on the attached.

Most of you questions are too hard to answer without driving the car.
I agree with everyone else you need to practice.
I almost always have more fun when practicing than when I actually compete so it's not like its hard work
