There's another vid of the car running a 8.18 @ 162 on youtube and quite a few 8.2's.

 

They are after the "stock chassis" 12a record that was set by Mr 12a.. New Dereck is a full chassis.

Ps. New Dereck's chassis was originally built around an rx3 body but they later rebodied it to a rx8, hence the reason for it's "unusual" looks

Well, I heard that this car just crashed recently and the shell is not repairable, so they are going to find another shell. That's the problem with running these high speeds with a stock chassis. These guys are nuts!
