whats needed to turbo and 87 GXL

I have a GXL that I want to turbo. I know I need the exhaust manifold, turbo, ic, ECU, and wireing harness. What else is needed???. I have heard since I have and 87 that I will need to rewire all my guages also. Is this true??? How long will the N/A trans and rear dif last if I use it. How much boost will I be limited to with the mods already done to my car??? Any other insights will be nice Thanks for the help Dave

Sell your GXL and buy a TII. You will have a better over all car in the end (it's not just the engine that was improved on TII's).

It will actually cost you less to sell the GXL and buy the TII than it would to turbo the GXL. Plus it's that much easier.

If you have a GXL which is turboed, you can't do too many serious performance mods because your engine/drivetrain is not near as good as the TII's and is holding you back. With a TII engine/drivetrain/vehicle the sky is the limit!

thanks bridgeport, i just felt like being a smart *** last night and bringing this tread back, i am in the process of selling the car for $3800 less then what i have in it so i can get a T2 or trade for a stock S5 T2 or a really nice S4(88ae will accept above anything) i got $6500invested + the $1800 purchase price so i am asking $4500 obo or T2 trade.. the car went a 14.3 b4 the carb set-up and i also just took 350lbs off teh car so it will go 13's.. not bad for a stock port eh?

Hey, didnt mean to offend you, I'm sure your car is great. Shouldn't you be able to sell your car for enough money to buy a mint stock TII or a slightly modded on? I guess it all depends on location and prices there.
If you want to turbo your GXL, then forum member Aaron_Cake is the man to talk to. Before you do that though, do a search in the second gen forum for his name and the word "Turbo" and you will find all your answers i suspect.
