Question What would be quieter? Magnaflow or Borla?

Looking to get a new REAR muffler. Looking at either the Magnaflow 5x11 stainless oval muffler, 22" long or the Borla XR-1 Sportsman 4.5x9 oval, 16" long.

Which do you think would do the job more effectively...the Magnaflow is longer and wider making me think it would have more packing, thus being quieter. Unless the Borla technology will make the smaller casing just as quiet....already have two 4" round magnaflows as presilencers in a long primary system.

Also considering dumping the RB long primary system and getting the SDJ system to collect earlier, but am worried about power loss, anyone have experience here?

Get an A Pex'i with teh silecner. Or custom weld some kind of 4 inch pipe. It works.

I'd follow your own logic here and bet the larger muffler containing bigger internal volume would be quieter due to more sound absorbing packing. Both I assume are straight through design with peferated cores and stainless packing. If not, then the one thats not a straight through most likely would be quieter.

If you search the first gen section there was a VERY good debate on the performance of mufflers. How quiet, how flowing, and overal cost.

Borla, hands down. IMO and the opinion of many other auto enthusiasts
