What Really Pisses me Off!!!
The fact that this GMC Sonoma is racing in the pro import category. I know the Racer John Ligenfelter is a Drag Racing Hero, but WHY? i thought they had a pro truck class already in regular NHRA. i like performance and all but stay in your own damn class.

truck
i am not justifing this truck racing with us but look at this way ( for now) the pro stock truck class was canceled. when they were running they were running high 7.30's but mostly 7.40's. which is about the same as the pro import ET's (for now) the only real advantage the trucks have is that they are CONSISTENT AS HELL!!! and since there are a **** load of P/S truck chassis lying around this gives them something to do. this is one of the resaons Paisley and Venom have "pro import" trucks. if anyone out there wants to jump in the pro class for cheap (relative) find a PS truck chassis, i have seen them for as low as 20k for everything except drive train ,the norm is around 30k.

its not an import, thats why it is now 'sport compact' drag racing. i'm ******* disgusted!
chevy wants to sell more cavaliers, so they build some drag cars....
toyota wants to sell more celicas, so they build some drag cars (and put a celica body on a 4 second V8 funny car) (i'm not making this up, check the new turbo or scc mag!!!)
mazda is still asleap at the wheel
in the next few years, its gonna come down to which manafacturer wants to spend the most money, all of the classes will be filled with corporate backed cars, and those racers who dont score big sponsorship deals, will be left out, unable to compete with the high$$ cars. i gaurantee that domestics take over this sport in the next 3 years. ford and GM are much more willing to invest $$$ in building drag foci and cavaliers than honda and mazda are. toyota has the intrest, but the big 3 will just roll over them.
the NHRA should just add a 'sport compact' class to thier existing DOMESTIC race scedule, and leave what was IMPORT RACING the way they found it!!!
i knew that big business and corporate $$$ were gonna be the death of this sport!!

actually, i take that back, kinda.......
i for one wouldn't mind mixed competition at the track. i like the import vs domestic events at e-town. i just want some fairness in the classes.
when i think of the pro cars we have here and in japan, i think of the drivers as our warren johnsons. i'm not against v8 import cars, i just think they should race other v8's. if we are ever gonna see a 4 second import, it's gonna need a V8.
i like to think that imports are just as capable as domestics, i love beating them on the street. why should we stay secluded in our little race santioning bodies?
when dutweiler and those buicks started running 8's, i always wished i could see them at an import event. i consider grand nationals and syclones part of 'our' family. the V8 guys never respected the turbo 6, but us import guys understood them, most of us embraced them.
anyway.... i think we should allow domestics to race against imports. a front drive focus against a front drive honda is a fair race as i see it. the guy with the most skill/power/hunger is gonna win. same as for V8's. if matt hartford wants to run V8 rwd, then let him race the V8 rwd celica. this is good competition.
i have visions of a V8 powered IS 300 bodied, pro stock car lining up against warren johnson in my head. its a beautiful thing! lets beat these guys at thier own game. i cant wait to see 4000hp top fuel honda dragsters!!
we will be at a serious disadvantage at the begining because the domestic V8 draggers have a couple of decades of R&D head start on us, but a lot of that R&D can be applied to import V8s as well.
i wouldn't mind lining my 10 sec FD up with a 10 sec grand national at the track, thats the way we've been doing it on the street for years!
to a domestic racer, it sounds like we're whining because we're scared of loosing. as long as the classes are fairly divided, i'm not scared of any domestic cars!
what do you guys think?

1) for the love of GOD download AIM
2) Actually, now that I think about it, you are right Roan, these domestics are not impressing me at all. BUT, where does it stop? There is a V8 Class now, whats to stop for from Racing their 4.8 beefed stang engine in out import drag class? i see this happeneing very very soon. Also, I was shocked to see a ******* Mercury Cougar in the pro V8 class!!! their excuse is that its powered by a jaguar powerplant. This is bullshit. Its really getting ridicolous! I hope the Nopi circut keeps it import.

jag engine or not, let them bring any domestic engine they want. the competition will just make us imports get quicker.
like i said, i'd love to see dutweilers low 7 (or is it high 6 now?) second grand national go up against siguel at e-town.
we just need about 30 more 7 second pro-import cars to take on all the domestic competition!
greg, get off your *** and get your damn car done, we're gonna need it!
BTW, Venom recently bought a retired pro-stock chevy S-10 and put a toyota body/motor in it. they're using it to replace the truck they crashed last season

Abel has the 3 Rotor running in right now. He is having some problems but that this is definately going to STOMP some ***. I am going to Bite the intake manifold and throttle body design. He is running a large turbo on it. I tlooks like the same one that was on the 13b. He was having launcinh problems but he seems to have fixed that. Now all he has to do is get the car tuned in and viola. 6 second car. I have no clue about ari, he wasnt at the race this weekend
