What is the fastest 1/4 mile street driven rx7

Hey fellas I was wondering honestly what is attainable by way of street trim rx7's. I know crispeed proved the durability of the 685 hp rx7 they have but I saw a drag event where you have to drive 1500 miles b4 racing it. (hot rod mag)
-I'm a rotary guy but we need somebody to prove to those guys imports in general can keep up with the v8's cuz man that hinson guy is makin it bad for 240's and rx7's. but then again running 8's with a v8 really don't impress me all things considered (no offense). It's fast but supra's run 8.20's with autos and Mazworks 240 runs 8's with a manual I think 7's run 9.50's with a manual 9.10's w/ sequentials. But could they drive for 1500 I would guess so cuz that 685 hp rx7 was driving quite a distance.

let me know what you think

It doesn't mean they are not faster even if you are not impressed. That's like everyone trying to disregard UGR racing's Garth running a 7.98@183mph in a street trim viper. The supra boys were crying...but but but it's a V-10 and but but.

Reliability and cost make V-8's a great option for many even if the hp/l isn't there the quicker/faster 1/4 mile time usually are for less money to boot.

Yeah thats true but I mean out of a v8 I'm not impressed or ignorant of the fact, On prochargers site their is a 1600hp procharged big block making those #'s on 91 octane. I'm just saying anyone can do what they want to with their own money but I hate when people rag on another car to justify their swap, its just some know about rotary's some don't same with DSM's they had crap for a rep. but the true DSM head stay true to the diamond star despite it's flaws. I'm not preaching or bashing I'm just talking about loyalty, and true rx7 fans are loyal to the rotary despite its flaws. But I'm not going to lie any v8 powered 7 will be faster in a straight cuz it's a v8 but I just wanna know what's the fastest street driven rx7. But 7's have come a long way in streetable performance I mean ari yallons was running 9.50's and still drove it to the photo shoot for the car mag he was featured on to prove a point. But in the long run it ain't cheaper when hooking up a v8 to run single digits cuz you and I know prolly from experience that v8's run through transmissions and rearends as often as 7's tear up the circuit tracks and gas stations.

Thanks for posting though Jasil but I thought the viper that ran in hot rod's pump gas drags was running 7.80's on C16 and 8.30's on 91. But I love this part:The supra boys were crying...but but but it's a V-10 and but but. Supras are overrated.

Reliability is not an issue. It's the power vs cubic inch. Cubic inch will always win the war everything else being equal. I always said once the domestics firgured out the boost using turbos everyone else would have to play catch up. Garth's Viper is proof of that. Even the Supra Gods have to bow down to that viper.
Now when it comes to true street racing the more balanced set up is always going to win.

Check out Garth's viper in action.

Supras are overated but only here in the USA.
Now if Nissan had ever brought the Skyline here it would have been a completly different story.

In my opinion->
Supra vs Skyline-- Skyline wins!
2JZ vs RB26-- 2JZ wins!
RWD vs AWD-- AWD wins!

Nice, lupe you know they say only rich people waste parts so the wise trailor their cars to race thanks for the inputy fellas.
if Nissan brought over the skyline it would be over for alot of cars. But what do you guys think is the max horsepower and 1/4 mile digits a street driven rx7 could get. I mean a car that can drive 70 miles to the track and back in one piece, that something I wonder about all cars but with you guys on the forum I know you all can tell me.

i would just like to add a "street car" is a very very wide definition. as some people live in areas with no emissions a "street car" could be what every one else sees as a race car.

Yes very true the 600hp street car I can think of are basically the ones you all know. Crispeeds V8 Kila 685 hp monster, ari yallon 9.15, Dan schechters 9.78 (I emailed him real down to earth and informative guy), Eric cheatham 10.03 I think he drove it on the street, and Stillway's 9 sec street trim FD. I sure their other we haven't heard of but all of them have to pass emissions I believe. But I do believe street car is a wide range of things but basically a car that has alot of power and can survive in traffic thats all. Plus were I live there are no emissions hahaha.

Yeah and torque curve on a V10 make v8 guys enviuos. But i am basiaclly wondering about this to see whats the max somebody could take 13b too and still (if he or she wanted to)be able to play with it on the street and get a good amount of mileage out of it. So far it seems 650hp+ is attainable and still streetable.
P.S. What #'s could that V8 Kila rx7 get? I say 9.70's, how bout u guys.
Lupe, crispeed, etc. thanks for the input fellas I can only get so much input about imports and 7's especially I basically had to get on rx7club to learn this type of stuff.

I wonder what a large displacement rotary would do...How would you go about increasing the displacement?

i think he means wider rotors, in which would mean more displacement. of course that isnt practicle.

in Cali driving a 600+RWHP rotary around would get your car impounded before you even got to the track.

anyway back to topic, I watched ARI YALLON do a 9.80-- 131 mph at Gainsville in Florida, back in 2002, and the car was as close to a street as it could be! also remmber ADAM out of California way back in 1998 do a 9.30,donno mph, banned him because of custom transmission, both cars where FDs, full interiors. Several years ago the fastest Ari went with the stock transmission was around 9.50 and with a g-force it was around 9.15. In most southern states w/o emission testing or any inspection stick, you could drive his car around on the street.

In response to ronbros3, yeah u R right about no rotary's being in top Fuel but their is a way aroung Cubic inches and displacement. Thats forced induction thats how these civics are running 9.50's now, but yeah a chevy Small Block is good bang for the buck in the begining but gets expensive.

i also remeber boostin7 driving to the track running a couple of low 11 sec passes then "racing" all the way back home all on stock twins, AFAIK.
