What drag/street suspension setup for my car?

Ok, suspension is probably the aspect of RX-7s I am least knowledgeable in, so I need some good input here from guys like turbostreetfighter and others that have experience with drag suspensions.
I am not sure if this should be in the Suspension/Brakes/etc forum, but since this is an extreme performance setup, I wouldn't get any replies there anyway, so leave it in this forum

I need help on what suspension for my 20B FC project.
If you don't know my plans, basically I will be building a 20B second gen with 850-950 rwhp that is still street legal and driven. The rear end will be a Ford 8.8" rear.

What type of suspension setup do I need? What brands, spring ratios, etc would be good?

Yeah, I want to go 4-link, I'm sure of that.
Any suggestions on brands and specs?

Ok, I've been doing a lot of research the past few hours on the net about drag suspensions and talking to drag racers would different setups.
Many of them are recommending the ladder bar setup. Similar to a 4-link, but a bit simpler and cheaper. Main downside is basically that it doesn't have the adjustability that comes with a 4-link setup.
Many webpages and guys recommend the ladder bar setup for cars in the 9-10 second range, and I'm planning low 9's.

Any opinions on this?

I'm not who your asking for but i'll chime in.....

I would look at Competition Engineering.....they make really nice stuff. I think they could be a one stop shop for what your looking for. They offer it all.

As for shock and spring setup......other options would be Hal, QA1, and the list goes on. Those would be your best bet for sure though. If you want high dollar then i'm sure you know you could look at Koni double adj. and Penske. I don't think you'd have to though.

As for rear setup.....do you know what class you'd want to enter for racing? They might put you in different classes because of setup. I would think that a true 4 link would be your best bet. You'd have more adjustablility. Do you have a really good chassis guy? Are you tubbing it out? Mini-tubs? You have alot of options on where you want to go.

I do realize your asking these questions already.....i'm just throwing more ideas into the mix to help the cause and also a free bump to keep it on top

Hey thanks for the reply!
I don't know much about chassis/suspension setups yet, so I'll look into those companies you suggested and talk to Competition Engineering.

I'm not planning on racing yet... mainly just a street car that I will take down to the drag stip every couple weeks or so. Don't really care what class I would be in, just want to race it now and then.

Before you get started you may want to buy a book or two on handling and street suspensions. There are also some mathmatical formulas that you might want to take into consideration and your weight distribution through out the car. Definetly do the research before you start you mods so you don't waste your money.

Definitely. I won't be starting the project till this fall, and probably won't be doing the suspension on till about a year from now.

I use the Tokico 5way's, Eibachs, M2 trailing arms and toe links. This enabled me to cut consistant 1.50 60's......

i think he's backhalfing it, since he's going w/ a solid rear.

Yes, I will most likely be tubbing the rear. I don't think that I would be able to put down over 900 rwhp successfully with it untubbbed.

Oh, well in that case, just go with a ford 9" and use a coil over setup. Hell that'll get you 1.3 60's all day.

Yep, but it will be a Ford 8.8" with a 4.10 : 1 gear ratio in it.
Do you have any suggestions on what strength of coilovers?
