Prolly standalone engine management, like a Haltech. Of course, you could do intake and exhaust, clutch and lightweight flywheel first.......

ok so so far what i understand is to do the intake then exhaust components like cat back high flow cat downpipe. correct?

it has a new clutch already and i herd flywheel. when does the new IC and BOV and boost controller come in to this equation? i am not even sure how this turbo car works. i just got it. all i know is that it is in near perfect condition. exterior and interior is flawless and the engine is perfectly running with only 125,000km.

you should do the exhaust first. If you don't have emission laws in your area, you can do the exhaust, then ditch all the emissions control crap fom under the hood. Cleans the ungine bay up nice and make it easy as pie to work in the engine. I got a Racing beat exhaust, some block off plates, and I got hardly any vaccuum lines.

A "stand alone" is a stand alone Engine Management System. Stand alone refers to the fact that it can run the engine without the stock computer. I also agree that it is best to do this first (after basic maintenance items) if you intend to make a lot of horsepower from your engine. Why do this first? Because a stand alone EMS allows you to:
1) Monitor manifold absolute pressure (MAP) which is like a boost gauge but better because it also takes into account the outside air pressure.
2) Monitor intake air temperature so you know how hot your turbo is heating the air, how well your intercooler is working, and/or how well your supposed cool air intake is working.
3) Monitor the air/fuel ratio so you know if your fuel requirements are being met.
4) Adjust the air/fuel ratio as necessary
5) Adjust the timing as necessary
Additionally, some EMS products add extra features like datalogging, turbo timer, rev limiter, electric fan switch, boost control, additional/staged injector outputs, etc. The EMS will also allow you to ditch your crummy AFM, replace your horribly outdated slow ECU, and it will solve the car's flooding bug and bypass the overboost fuel cut saving you from needing to buy a $100 fuel cut defenser that really isn't so great for your engine anyway.

Yes, the exhaust is good to modify, but do you really want to bolt on a high-flow exhaust without being able to tune the engine properly, and without knowing whether or not you are destroying your engine by running lean? If you get the EMS first, you will be able to see what is going on with the engine and tune it appropriately.

See our ECU section for the different EMS products available. The most common low-price EMS products for the 2Gen RX-7 are made by Haltech, Microtech, and Wolf, and sell for $800 to $1,700, plus about $500 for tuning and installation. If you want to move up in price, there are EMS products from Electromotive and Motec. Note that the AEM and PFC systems are only for the 3Gen RX-7.

hey thx a bunch that makes alot more sence to me now. Ok so your suggesting that the very first thing b4 intake and exhaust stuff to get the stand alone?

i will need a laptop for that? also... if you coild briefly explain how these engines work or refer me to a site or something that would be great too. i know how a turbo works but i am not sure about all the after market stuff for em like BOV and IC. how does those work and how much HP gain do you think i would get by doing these following modz.

1. stand alone
2. intake
3. full exhaust
4. BOV
5. downpipe
6. IC
7. wastegate

also is it worth doing things like lighten flywheels and underdrive pulleys? what are your thoughts? you sound like a person who knows what they are talking about. there is prolly a whole **** load of things i am forgetting.
