What is the best streetable clutch?

I was nice enough to let me friend drive my car a year ago and he didn't know how to drive the car with a lightweight flywheel and Dual Friction center Force.

So now I have clutch chatter.

Overall i have been happy with the Centerforce. It lasts and is decent.

But many people say that the ACT is the best street clutch.

If so, my question is why?

Any one else have suggestions?

it's a good clutch(CDF) but with high torque numbers it begins to smoke and slip.

Honestly it comes down to preference. I've driven the ACT 6 Puck and couldn't stand it for the street, others don't mind it. I have the ACT Street/Strip and think it's a great compromise between strength and streetability. As for Centerforce, I've heard many people, like yourself, say they like it. But I've also heard even more people say they hated it. Some have said it didn't hold the power, others said it didn't last long enough. I have never heard those same complaints about the ACT.

If you arent running much power then they are fine but if your running any kind of good power then they suck ***. I went through two in one year thinking that maybe the first one was a fluke but it wasn't. My opinion now is to go with an ACT. I have the 6 puck and love it. It took a little to get use to but now I wouldn't trade it for anything.

The ACT 6 puck is rated at 500 ft. lbs. of torque.

The best streetable clutch would be the standard bonez unit from RB only 200 bucks for everything except flywheel and holds 10 percent more than stock. Why ould you need 500ft lb of torque for the street?

when you say 6puck, do you mean the one that is the unsprung hub. I ahve the race disc and think it's a little too much for the street. Plus i don't have enough power to really push that clutch. Soon though, things will change.

ACT street/strip It took me 2 days to get use to driving with this clutch and now I don't have any problems; it feels like the OEM clutch, however, it's a little bit more sensitive. I highly recommend the ACT.

i believe it can handle around 450lbs of torque. i use act's ZX3-XTOO setup with a racingbeat flywheel and it pulls great.

i have a 11lb flywheel and centerforce doesn't recommend that since it might have clutch chatter.

similar notion with ACT?

I'd stay away from the ACT Extreme pressure plate when used with the OEM disk. You'll be fine with it if drag racing is not any sort of regular occurrence, but if you're like me, a minimum of once a month at the strip can toast this combination quite easily. If you ride it out of the hole, it'll burn up pretty quick. I'd do an Extreme pressure plate with one of the clutchmasters segmented and sprung hub clutch disks. It'll help preserve your drivetrain by taking a bit of the shock when the clutch engages. Makes it easier to drive on the street too.

Good advice as I have seen this happen here in Japan as well.

Personally...OS Giken twin plate all the way...Holds lots of Torque AND very streetable.

I was going to say the same thing, i have one and love it. I've driven act sprung, but mostly unsprung 6 pucks in numerous cars, and nothing compares to the os giken twin plate. They engage so much smoother, but when its time to get nuts, they dont let go. I am a fan for life!

Yeah, forgot about that. PLUS, they change your clutch from PULL type to PUSH type...so you don't have any worries when pulling the tranny away from the engine.

Rebuild kits normally run $600+, but if you just buy the two disk, then it'll cost $400...which is what I do

I love my ORC triple plate.. it's supposed to hold a 1,000hp it has a unsprung hub and it jerks you around when you start out, but god damn is it fun.. It's got 2 settings ON and OFF and it'll last a long time because it doesn't slip.. It does break a transmission every now and then though ... I used to run a OS Geiken twin and It's a sweet clutch as well. If your not running a lot of HP you might be interested in getting the OS Super single or the Cusco single disk clutches.. I beleve they are both good to 450 hp or so and they engage pretty damn smooth..
