Let me start by asking.. why do you want to reduce the weight of the car?

no amount of weight reduction will be beneficial to a convertible & its driveability

Go to the bottom of this page.. you follow the steps you can get it down to 1740 from a original 3020. You may have drivability issues as it doesnt have a motor.... But.. it is a good starting point..
I dont know the weight minimum.. but I bet he is at it or damn near.. and the car is sweet after... even if I dont care for the rotor stickers much.

Actually... For real.. you can make a lot of weight reduction... some taking cash.. others taking time..

1st.. Gank the seats and the carpet... THen get all the sound deadening out as well as carpet backing.
Go up under the dash.. as you are already pulling out the AC.. and remove all of the AC componentry.. I have a box of the stuff in the garage.. I think it is like 50Lbs for the boxload of crap under the dash.
Then the AC pump.. Air Pump.. Power steering.. (Get a manual rack)
Originally the verts had Plastic headlights. Most have been replaced.. get some of the rice APC H4 headlights that fit the stock location.. they are plastic.
Thermo Reactor.. Gank it.. Short collected RB header.. with a stainless catback single like a N1.
All the heat shields.. Gone.
KEEP the original 15" BBS wheels. If they are not the original 9LB (IIRC) BBS.... as in they DONT say BBS on the inside of the rim.. chuck them for some light rims.
Find a CF hood.. Like the FC3S.org/Fiber Images hood.
Corksport makes front fenders and a border clone frontend that I KNOW weighs less than stock.
Gank alllllllll the original Emissions crap off the engine.. totally strip it.. to the block and add an ems. That way you loose all the air inlet tract crap.
Umm... Get a aftermarket radiator like a fluidyne.. or one from AWR...http://www.awrracing.com/pages/cooling.html
Getting hardcore? Gank the 6-port actuators and sleeves.
If you can find it.. Fiberglass trunk.
Spare tire, stereo and all the amps under seats dash in rear cargo area etc etc... and wiring.
Lexan windshield..
AND.. in the extreme case.. you get out the sawzall and cut down the windshield speedster style.. and junk the soft top and all associated hardware.
Also a litle extreme.. but it all adds up.. aftermarket shocks with aluminum bodies and coil overs and shock perches.
Think outside the box.. do you need it... I mean YOU.. not everyone else.
Cruise control and cold start hardware under the hood.. as well as cruise control switch in the dash..

If you REALLLLY wanna get silly.. Pull out the entire dashboard... and put in a set of autometer ultra-lites... they will fit nice in a small panel you can add to the top of the steering column.

Soo...... How far you wanna go with lightening it??

Correct, hence, not a 7 anymore. It's a messy means of starting a tube chassis.
