Question turbo(RE) rotors on a 6-port

Hi all.

Did a search, but got no hits.

We are trowing together an engine for our FC drifter.

How will the rotors and turbo off a Cosmo 13B RE engine drop into a 6 port (euro spec without the sleeves)? Will this be a good combo?

Is the porting good for a turbo? Is the rotors different in weight?

Thank you for your posts, (and for your lack of flames).

RE ;-)

the re rotors will work if it's an s5. never a bad idea to have it all balanced, though.

but in an n/a motor, your power is coming (partially) from the compression, so i'd stick with the 9.7 rotors, or maybe even renesis rotors if you have the means.

as GuitarJunkie28 stated, they will work in the 6-port, but unless you plan to use a turbo with them, there's really no upside. if you do plan to use a turbo and you're going through the trouble of sourcing RE rotors, then you'd be better served just using the whole RE engine.

good luck with whatever you choose.

Thumbs up We are using the turbo...

Hi.

I am sorry for not making it clear in the first post.

We are using the Turbo off the RE. We have an almost complete RE engine here. Just missing a side housing.

The reason for 6 port engine with low comp rotors and turbo are:

Engine mounts. The engine is going into a car originally intended for 6-port.

Low comp rotors for turbo,so you can run some boost without " ping ! ".

On a sidenote, Is the NA EFI good for power? It is very simple (no emmision crap vs the 89-up FC), and other than the ignition not retarding on boost and the airflow sensor limitations, It would be better to use the 6-port ECU(?).

How much HP will an airflowmeter off a 6-port flow?

Thank you for your valuable input.

the n/a probably won't get you enough power to have fun drifting....but niether will the stock RE twins, unless you really don't want power.

it would definately be best to get an ems--the n/a computer doesn't know what to do with boost, so it'll go boom.

Hi.

(*-read this slow)

I am planning to use NA 6 port everything BUT the rotors. RE-rotors (for low compressions). I WILL use the RE twins(turbos) (should be able to pull 300 Hp or so, right?).

The NA computer has NO IDEA about boost, since it is a airflowmeter and not a MAP-sensor system. I know some EFI with airflowmeter and Turbo (stock setup) calculate boost from rpm/airflow, but will the 6 port NA EFI do this (-I think not).

I appreciate your posts, but I do not know if I am coming trough clearly here?

Have a gREat day !

300hp? like i said, don't use them unless you want hp. you ain't havin' fun until you've got 400+ touching the wheels.

4-port engines are better for forced induction. the intake opens and closes too late on the 6 port motors.

let me reiterate...don't use the n/a comuter unless you want boom.
