turbo II OMP on 3rd gen upgraded engine

So last night I was talking to a rotary friend about the mods to my engine.

So we end up discussing the OMP. I tell him I want to add the PCV OMP adaptor to run an extra tank with 2-stroke oil. We discuss the ECu's we're both using (he Wolf3D, me PFC).

According to him the PFC dumps too much oil in the engine.

So he suggests to ditch the ECU riggered OMP for the 3rd gen and add the mechanical OMP from the 2nd gen turbo II.

1. it's mechanical so less possibility to failure
2. it's compatible with the 3rd gen OMP shaft.
3. it has multiple oil outputs. (they need to be adapted but need to find out how.
4. possibility to adjust volume of oil being injected acc. rpm.

Now, have been hanging around this forum for some time now (2 years), investigating many things for my rebuild, and this is a first to me.

If anyone could elaborate on the pro's and cons of this mod, possibly experiences?

Many thanks,

Neal

All of the different OMP shafts are the same. The OMP mounting is different as they each have different bolt patterns and flange sizes. It is possible to adapt one to work but this will take some customizing on your part and it may or may not be easy. Remember that the 3rd gen uses 2 OMP lines and the others used 4 so you'll need to take this into account when setting up the opening rate. You could always add 2 more injectors somewhere on the manifold and build some lines. This may not be a bad idea but I've never seen it done.

I personally like the mechanical pumps and also like the 2 stroke reservoir. I have an adapter for an S5 that I no longer need but sadly it won't work for you. There may be some pros or cons to running the mechanical pump but I like it for reliability reasons. You'll just need to rig up a system on the throttlebody to pull it open. I've used a bicycle brake cable to do this. As long as you aren't using an ecu that looks for the OMP, you'll be fine. This definitely won't work on a stock computer. I'm not against this idea at all for that car and think it would be worthwhile. You actually have some, in a crude way, form of adjustability as you can decide how far you want the OMP to be open at lower settings and go up from there.

Thanks, I'll give this some more investigation time and talk again to my friend; He seems to have completed this mod.
About the 4 channel T II OMP, I guess you can Y-pipe 2together and have 1 line going to the nipple on the 3rd gen. In this way you can maintain oil supply.

If I get pictures I will post some here.
