Tension bolt sleeve?

I wire-wheeled my tension bolts for the rebuild and there was like a 1/2" sleeve on the center of one of the shorter bolts. Is this needed? I checked mazdatrix and didn't see anywhere to order a new one on their tension bolt section.

Thanks,
Chris

you can use a bit of heat-shrink for it.

That outside tension bolt?
If you look at it, that plastic sleeve lines up with the center housing.
Me thinks it's just for a snugger fit to the center iron.

If it was for some kinda fancy vibration issues, why don't all of the tension bolts have them?
They don't.

All I know is that the blasted sleeve makes it a PAIN IN THE *** to remove the used stat-o-seal washer! :P

FD owner, right?

FC 86 - 88 didn't have those "grooves" in the center of the tension bolts.
FC 89 - 91 did.
At least this holds true for the 13BT's...

All FD 13B-REW's run those grooved tension bolts.

ted i am surprised i thought you knew everything
I would say the coolant keeps the vibration to a minimum on all but a couple.
fluid is good for vibration dampening.

Well, I was going to keep that fact as an ace up my sleeve, but you beat me to it.
