Take a look at my Intake Ports

I used the Mazdatrix template as a reference since I like that the Mazdatrix secondary does not open sooner which means less overlap compared to other templates. What I didn't like is that the secondary goes very high up which is a bit of a waste since you have to taper up to get that high without hitting the water jacket. I also made the primary smaller overall and most importantly I only took the leading edge (opening) up to where the secondary port edge starts. I am looking for streetable 375whp with nice low-mid range torque on a 8374 EFR. The engine (13BREW) is getting balanced so it should easily handle up to 9k rpm if these ports will flow enough.

i think you are approaching it with the right frame of mind. less can be more. i have definitely come around to thinking this way about 7 years ago or so.
