T2 V Mount IC/Rad set up problem

Hi all.

I have a bit of a question for you.

I am making up a V Mount set up in my S5 T2, The problem is i had made it with a S4 water pump neck as the filler (as the rad is now lower set in the car and has had the filler welded up) now i am fitting an EWP which looses all the pump and filler neck pipe work.

Can i use a Header tank to get around this and if so how would it be best piped up?

I know the bottle has to be higher than the engine water level and i was thinking of using the water outlet on the top of the engine (Plate) as one of the feeds and possably weld a pipe in the top of the rad. But not knowing much about headers in water systems will this be enough? also will this cause me any problems?

Your imput would be apriciated.

Cheers

Chris

I had a real long write-up and then lost my internet connection, so here is a quick response:

I run a Meziere EWP on my FD, eliminating the filler neck and waterpump housing. I use a Canton/Mecca expasion tank as the fill point. The nice thing about the Canton tank is it uses GM/Ford radiator caps. I have it located in front of the accessory drive belt as high up as I could located it, which ended up about 1/2" higher than the top of the engine. Iif you eleminate throttle body coolant, it is the hight point in the system (you want it to be the highest point for air separation). I have what was the throttle body coolant flow plumbed to it. Attached is a picture of where I located mine.

How, or where, are you planning to mount your thermostat? I ended up desinging a custom thermostat housing that mounted were the stock water pump housing did.

Do the TII have the coolant bypass circuit? On the FD's, coolant is diverted back to the pump inlet when the thermostat is closed. When the thermostat opens, the bypass circuit gets closed by a plate on the backside of the thermostat. Very poor desing if you ask me, which probably leads to a lot of FD cooling problems.

I have a problem taking pic's as i dont have a dig cam.

Glemmers, by the looks of things my set up is going to look alot diffrent. I have removed the water pump, the Pump Casting, Thermostat the lot. The Alt has been relocated and all i'm left with is an adapter with two pipes bolted on the ft plate.

I will be running a Craig davis EWP with a Controler that slowes the water flow down when its cold (just to aid warm up a bit).

Its all a bit of a mess at the moment as i've fitted another rad that has the inlet/outlets both of the right (looking from the ft of the car) so the plumbing ewp etc is on the other side to the Turbo (an atempt to get better air flow around there) but all the pipe work has to be made up.
