T and R run 10.1 & 10.5

Just an update....

T and R ran at an event at Englishtown Raceway in NJ today.

Romeo with the first gen ran a 10.1@130 on turbo and motor. (no nos). This was his best time to date.
Mods are street ported motor.....T72 turbo.

Tony with the 3rd gen ran a 10.5@123, also with no NOS. These are both the best times to date so I figured I would post it.

Mohan with a Red 3rd gen with slicks, only upgrade is a power fc and exhaust and intake ran a 12.0.

I thought it was impressive that both shop cars drove to and from the event. I took 500 pics! Once I upload them to the T and R site I will post the link.

Thanks!

87GTR - maybe he had a lift off top end? I have run 12s at 87mph and I have seen flat 12s @ 107mph because of a great launch.

10.1 from a 1st gen!! WOW!! Details?

That would be cool. Imagine a 9sec, drive to the track and drive home. Does anyone have that now?

I agree, his MPH should be a lot more. He's making over 500HP so I know it's not HP. I will ask him, I didnt really notice it until I looked at the slips.

Heres what the slip says for Tony's 10.5 run (black FD)

Dial : 12:00
R/T : 1.422
60ft: 1.541
330: 4.441
1/8: 6.780
MPH: 103.95
1000: 8.818
1/4: 10.569
MPH: 123.52

Heres what the slip says for Romeo's 10.1 run (white 1st Gen)

Dial: 10.50
R/T: .956
60ft: 1.572 (normally 1.4's)
330: 4.267
1/8: 6.551
MPH: 106.82
1000: 8.513
1/4: 10.187
MPH: 130.52

Romeo is not the only one running low 10s with a first gen. There's another guy with a silver one that ran a 10.2. I know he's a spanish guy that hangs out with Pepe Loco's group.

Romeo's car is running an engine.
T72 turbo
Haltech E6S
Msd's
intercooler...and the rest of the usual mods.....

He's always had the same setup but Waynespeed is the only person tuning the car now and more time on the dyno is helping.

I see what it takes to run low 10s. I takes a LOT of dedication. I see these guys at the shop until all hours of the night. When their customers are gone, they are still there working on their cars. I've been there when their girls are calling lol and they say "i'll be there in 10min" We've all been die hard rotary guys from way back when....racing at fountain.....amsterdam....."the tanks" in Brooklyn.....of course Hunts point (all strips there) and Franny Lew etc...THis was back when we all had 1st gens. (Speednyc ?)

It's not easy to run hard. It not only takes money but you gotta love the game. If you don't, you'll get frustrated the first time you blow up (cause you will) and wanna quit.....(i'm speaking from experience here )

Thats why I give props to all the guys out there that run hard with rotaries, especially the "regular guys" cause its not as easy as it seems!!!

A friend of mines here in Miami also got a daily driven 12A turbo powered 1st gen that runs 10.30's without Nitrous!

Yes!
That's the one. He's using a Weber style TB from TWM with a Haltech F9. It's full BP with a T-64 turbo. It only runs around 18 to 20 psi and makes around 450 to 470RWHP. The tranny is the Celica 5-speed and the proven datsun 4.30 rear end.

With the celica tranny powershifting takes no effort especially at high rpms. I have not seen one in a heavy/high powered car as yet but they seem to live well behind NA's and some turbo applications.
Hey Kabooski rumor has it that Kilo is debuting the all motor 3-rotor this weekend at Gainsville!

I used one of those 1g 5 speed boxes in my rx3 before the jerico, was good for 9.3 @146mph(1996) alot of Aussies using them now. The adaptors are worth approx $150US, if interested.
We also have a first gen in Melbourne running 9.3 @ 149mph no wheel tubs.
crispeed,
is that gen 2 tubbed? I need to get a street sec. gen into nines and I'm worried about rear end. Is it possible, your help would be appreciated.

Awesome Stuff AnthonyNYC!

Now I'm REALLY looking forward to catching up with you guys on May 18

I hope Romeo get's that 9, the car is definitely capable of it, that's for sure

Looking at the slip he would have run a 9 if the launch was a bit better

Nice work!

Anthony Rodrigues, Crispeed's car was featured on the awesome website www.fullboost.com.au

You can read about his car here
