Question Setup For T2 1987

I just bought a 1987 T2 with a blown motor.
I live in LA however i'm going to have a new 13b-t motor installed up north. was wondering what type of setup would be the best. looking to spend around 5 grand for everything to do with the engine and tranny. would that be poss? and would anyone know a closer to Los Angeles place? went to the recommend shops thread and found only afew, of those check point engineering is the only one that i got in touch with but that's again up north.

You can do quite a bit with that budget....especially if you do some of the stuff yourself. Do a search and you will find a ton of info on what you can do.
