S5 turbo iron tolerances??

I had this thread originally posted in the 2nd gen specific but they told me it would be better to post in here so here it is. The old thread is in here (https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generation-specific-1986-1992-17/s5-turbo-iron-tolerances-856091/) Thanks guys.

Hey guys i need a few opinions from more experience engine builders on my s5 turbo irons. I just pulled my motor apart today because a torrington bearing lodged between the spacer and bascally took the oil pump, bearings, and thrust plate with it. However my rotors and housings are mint. I just have a question about my irons.

Can someone clarify if i can use these irons? there seems to be an imprint of the rotor onto the iron. I dont know if it is caused by heat scorching or from rust. Ill post up the pictures. [IMG][/IMG]
^^ this is my intermediate plates which holds the front rotor.

^^ this is a picture of the bottom the same intermediate plate.

^^heres another one (you can see the apex of the rotor and its corner seal imprint..)

^here is my front plate..

Pretty much there are only imperfections in the front rotor irons. I will double check again tomorrow if there are anymore imperfections.

I also noticed bumpy (intake manifold like casting texture (bumpy texture) on the bottom of one of the irons (it is very small though like a ball point pen size..(found out the correct terminology is Pitting) Ill post better pictures tomorrow..

Can anyone help me out on wheter or not these irons can be reused? ..Im hoping it is just light surface rust but i really am not sure. (would lapping remove this imperfection?) Thanks for your time guys.

Can you feel anything in the discoloration. It looks like it sat with coolant in where it shouldn't be.

it doesnt feel like there is a difference from the shiny area and the dark area. Would there be a problem running these irons if I measured the irons and they are in good spec, but there was a discoloration on the iron?

Oh and i picked up a dial indicator im gonna measure stuff right now thanks guys.

A quick test is to take a box cutter razor blade and try to scratch into the discolored area. It should be just as hard as the surrounding normal iron. If the blade can dig into the discolored area, you have a paper weight.

cool i will do that. I measured the wear on my iron and Everything is in good spec! Now i am just worried about the discoloration (i think its coolant damage..correct me if im wrong.).
I will try that razor blade test. Any more advice about testing my irons would be greatly appreciated (mostly pertaining to the discolored area thansk!)
