Rotor swap?

Okay, i was on ebay following the purchase of my new '87 gxe. in search of the unthinkable i tried "renesis" only to find an auction for a new renesis engine out of an rx8 w/ a 3 rotor swap.

I am to understand that with the renesis mazda eliminated apex seals and all of the issues that the "old" rotaries were prone to. but yet the renesis is still 1.3L and one of the auction pictures shows MAZDA 13B so if the renesis is better but still the same displacement could you swap just the rotors?

Be gentle im new.

The RENESIS is a 13B motor.

It is ported differently, side exhaust ports... etc.

It still has apex seals too.

It has solved a few problems (better milage, emissions).

It'd be a LOT of work to get one into and RX-7...

For starters, it's a fly-by-wire engine.

And RX-7 manifolds would not fit, so you'd need to solve the fact that that engine is a shortblock...

There are many parts that will go inside a regular 13B from the renesis. Some take some machine work, some bolt in. You can modify your rotors to act like the renesis units(machine work) except for the compression ratio. I've been searching the forum and I've found a lot of info buried on just this subject.

Yeah, it would be a lot of work to make it fit. The 8 is a much newer vehicle with more electronics. Also, the positioning of the engine is behind the front axle (front midship).
Whereas the fc engine is on top of it.

All RX-7's are front-mid engine. Go look in your engine bay.
