Rotary Aviation seals, a 10,000 km report.....
.02, i just rebuilt my motor with the master kit from rotary aviation and have had absolutley no problems at all with hot or cold startup. i have approx. 1000 miles on the engine. thanks guys, for providing a great peoduct at a great price.
I haven't read the whole thread, nor do I know about RA seals. But generally speaking in Aviation, typical certified and approved Aviation piston engine have much larger clearances between with rings and the cylinders, due to a difference in atmospheric conditions.
Could this be a possible cause with you problem if the theory holds true for the RA seals?

Only new info is that RA replaced both my used and unused sets of apex seals free of charge, and the new seals are much better in dimension and consistency than the originals, the new seals are stamped numbered and the finish is smooth alot like the mazda 2 peice..
Usually once bitten , twice shy, but I am gonna run these in a combination that I hope to achieve 600+ rwhp out of, so I am gonna probably push them to the limits...Max

it shouldnt be too much of a problem in NA motors but in turbo ones, it created excessive heat so the seals would warp quicker.... i dont know for sure though, i dont rebuild engines! my .2 cents
I am really looking for tracy to clear up my questin, the ahve taken the apex seal issue down from there web site - need to know as I have engines out there. Not the end of the world, just want to take care of this now while its zoom zoom instead of after "boom boom"
a mistuned car will break apex seals
these bend
I rather have bend over break and damage my parts
I did however not use the RA long apex seal spring
as I can clearly see that they are not flame hardened there chrome like.
stock and "others" have a darker hue to the springs
so I used the long stock OEM spring and the RA small spring
well see how she handles after I break in the engine

Exacty! This is the # one reason I'll be using these RA seals.
Thats some interesting info about the long apex seal spings. I wonder if Tracy could shed some light about this?
i've got 3-4k on my half bridge port, 13psi all the time
no problems yet...starts good
i have been getting the oil analyzed and i am seeing a high chromium count, perhaps they are still breaking into the rotor housings or maybe they will continually wear on them

that the chromium that is showing up is from the oil control rings.
matt
That realy is a good question. If chromium is getting from the combustion chamber to the oil, you would also have high dulition of gasoline in your oil leading to premature bearing wear. What other parts are chromium coated?
Very interesting..
93blackfd, where are you sending your oil to be analyzed?? and how much does it cost??
I'm thinking about sending some samples when my engine gets done..

$20/pop, i highly recommend getting their free sample collection kit, comes with everything you need and gives you those window stickers that remind you when your next change is
