I'm guessing it would be best to port your housings before you send them in?

Well, I need a quick turn around time so I will be porting after and Marc(JHB) says it is fine. FYI JHB will be setting up CNC machine in the near future to do porting. They can port now too but the old fashioned way.
Like Pat said JHB's coatings have been discussed already, look back a few pages and you will find pics of the testing that they performed. Here is a thread of someone who just got their housings back from JHB https://www.rx7club.com/rotary-car-performance-77/plasma-cement-ceramic-coatings-first-impressions-389435/
Scalli's coating is different from the one that JHB offers. From what I understand once they get everything completely set up and going full time they will accept core housings and send you a set of pre-coated housings. Or if you have housings that have already been ported and want them resurfaced they will coat them, it will just take a little longer.

Eh, get better man. You guys all settled down in the new shop? Pat, I feel the same way about the forum being boring as of late. I didn't get a chance to take the turbocharging class, had to hash out a couple extra physics, and a couple extra emch classes. The internal combustion engines class sounds fun. Let me know how in depth they go, I have a book on IC engines, but haven't had the time to get back to reading it. I've been talking with a couple grad students I met at the cigar shop, and one of them just picked up a job at GE in Greenville south carolina, so I'll be seeing him. Guys a genius just got his PH.D in combustion engineering in land based turbine engines. Designed and produced his own fuel injector. He's gonna try and get me a personal tour at the GE plant. Sounds like I'll have a fun summer afterall.

I have been reviewing this thread for about a week, and great job everyone!
Anywho, only one question. What do you do about the tension bolt hole? Obviously there isn't any room for the bolt now... do you just not put the bolt in?? I remember seeing that someone made a very "strategic" bolt, but forgot where the pics were. I just remember seeind it, and the word "strategic" was used like 10 times. But it was basically a bolt ground into the shape of the tube, so it would fill the tension bolt hole, but... then a tension bolt coulden't go through the hole, which leads me back to question number one. Thanks for any answers...later

this thread has been dead for a long time, unfortunately. however, you can get resurfaced housings, albeit of a different type and higher cost, at www.jhbperformance.com

No updates and I am really curious on how things are going with the JHB stuff?
