Removing the AST
Removing the AST
When, why, and for what purpose would I need to remove the AST. I know that the stock, plastic, tank is not reliable and I should at least replace it with a dependable all 'metal' one; but I saw the removal kit at n-techs page for $60 and thought what the heck, I might as well do that instead of spending $150+ on a new AST. Do I lose anything important in making that decision? Do I gain anything beneficial?
Thanks

The purpose is in the name. You can get the parts for the AST removal for cheaper than 60$...not to knock anything off N-tech.
Go to http://www.rx7turboturbo.com/robrobi...olant_tank.htm
for all the info...the Mazda filler cap is 40$ from the dealer less if you can pull it off a 2nd gen somewhere.
What you gain is simplification in the engine system. You lose the functionality of having an easy means of limiting air in the system.
Personally I still have the AST but have it on the check list for removal.
