I bought the A pillar mount boost gauge from www.PettitRacing.com; They don't use the little plastic cover that warps in the hot FL sun, so it mounts directly to the A Pillar. Important note......the gauge matches the stock gauges and uses amber light at night so it's an exact match.
The cost was $125........If you want a chrome ring around it...$135
Works great!

Get the EL series electronic guages from A'PEXi. They may be a little more expensive than others', but they're super accurate, and have great features. Not to mention great looks!

I have a quick question about boost guages. Is the electronic boost guage easier or harder to install than the mechanical ones? I was just wondering because I am in the market for one and I was debating which type to purchase. Also does anybody have a preference on which A-pillar to purchase? I have heard that some of them really warp in the sun. Thanks for your reply in advance.

I'm using the Autometer Boost guage and 2 pod mount. I'll try and get some pics for you this week if you want to see the install.
A lot people say this and that about different gauges, honestly you aren't going to be staring at it everytime you're driving. You should only need it to check the levels every now and then to make sure everything is ok.

I like the defi gauges. They are a nice size, easy yo read and come in either metric or english. They have the playback and all that other good stuff too.

I have Autometer Phantom a/f and Boost gauge in my FD. I think it works fine. How many of the other Guage companies actually make their own gauges? Someting to tink about

How hard are these to install?
Thanks for all the feed back. One more question. How hard are the boost gauges to install and do they come with everything needed?

I would say that if you plan on adding a ton of gauges later, it may be worth your while to buy the Defi gauges. The central unit will allow you to hook up the others with some ease. Otherwise I have the boost gauge from Pettit on my column.

If you are somebody who finds that that the difference between indicating 11 and 12psi of boost is significant, I would not get an autometer gauge.
If you're on a budget but want accuracy, check out VDO gauges.

Ok fellas,
I just installed my Defi boost and water temp gauges on my pillar 1 week ago (electrical). I got them from Jason at the RX-7 store with the autometer dual pod mount. They basically look like stock gauges, except for the green instead of amber light, but it looks sweet anyway.
You want installation tips? Here goes.
DO NOT DO THE ROB ROBINETTE GUAGE INSTALLATION! I love his site, but after doing this myself and finding info on another site which only had a blurb on this, I did it this way (can't remember site right now). You do not have to drill through the firewall!
The boost gauge sensor tube attaches right on the manifold. I attached the sensor on the right rear inside of the engine compartment, with a machine screw into an empty machine screw hole. (No idea if anything was ever there.)
Then I ran the electrical wire along the back of the engine compartment to the left side. Once there I pushed it into the hole that a bunch of wires and such go into the left fender.
Now, you jack your car up behind the left front tire and remove the tire and unscrew the black plastic lining the back of the tire well.
Carefully remove the plastic and underneath you will see where your wire went through. Now you see that rubber cap going into the driver footwell? Take it off and you are in. You can remove the plastic holding the rubber cap by pushing the plastic inserts in with a screwdriver. Punch a whole in the cap with a sharp object, pull your wire through the cap and the plastic holding piece, and then into the footwell. Then put the rubber cap on the plastic and the plastic on the footwell. (I used some electrical tape to seal the hole, but it was not really necessary. The hole is really tight.)
I mounted the Defi control unit in the footwell, on some instrument box on the right side, over and to the right of the gas pedal. (don't know if that was an ideal location or not)
Mounting the pod is straightforward and the plastic thingies that came with it work well. I cut the bottom corner of the pod so I can seat it as close to the dash and as far from the steering wheel as possible.
Maybe this install should be archived, if someone does this and takes some pictures.
As far as the temp gauge goes, I haven't decided where in the cooling system to install it yet, so basically it is reading under-hood temperatures for now.
I can report that I get 10-8-10, sometimes 12-10-12. I need to double check that.
Hope this helps,
Petros
BTW, Try not to crash into anything when you are stomping on the gas to watch your boost pattern. With Defi gauges you can record 40 seconds or something and play it back later. (Of course I opted for the first option.)
