rebuild is cheap but..

I'm getting my rebuild done here FINALLY! but I quickly realized that there are other things in the engine rebuilding process that needs to be addressed also. I did a search & there were some very good pointers to have done(like get a new clutch while the engine is out) while having a rebuild done. Some schmart people on this forum. Anyhow, what MUST do's would you list to have done. I have an 88 vert.

Thank you in advance.....

Pulsation dampner
Hoses & belts
Fuel lines( any good aftermarket?).....

If your engine is being rebuilt because of mileage only, I would say
  • rebuild/replace the injectors
  • check the wiring harness for brittle wires/connectors
  • check/replace hoses
  • flush/check cooling system
  • flush/check oil cooler and hoses
  • replace fuel filter

If it was a low mileage engine, search for what killed it before putting a new on in.

Sounds good. Writing it down. It's always good to get other opinions here. Yeah, after some 180k it's about time. Many things here is applicable to piston engines too I figure, so I just wanted to be sure as I've been down that road for pistons. I'm also finding that the cost of the other "stuff" is close to about a third of the engine. Not including install. Oh well, once done never look back.

Obviously it depends on what caused your engine to go. A few other things you might want to consider while the engine's out:

Motor mounts
Thermostat
Oil Cooler lines
New Flywheel/Resurfaced flywheel

Just some food for thought and some more stuff that i did on mine...
