Porting and emissions

Is there any sort of porting that you can have done, and still be able to pass an emissions test?

Also, on a side note, how much would an rx7 benefit from upgrading the fuel system if you have a complete aftermarket exhaust, and the engine is ported? Or will it still be able to compensate

I passed ATL emissions with full bolt ons, a main cat, non-seq twins and ported intake.

by complete exhaust you mean no cat...you won't pass emissions, and your ECU and fuel will not compensate.

if you have a hi flow cat, and run 10psi...fuel upgrade is not needed.

if you want more boost you need an ECU that will deliver fuel for it, I wouldn't run more than 13psi on the stock twins, and you do not need a fuel system to do this, just an ECU.

Can anyone else tell me how their experience was with passing an emission test with a street ported engine? I'm interested in porting it, and then adding all the bolt ons....
My friend one time failed an emission test, and then took it somewhere, they did something and told him to bring it back after he passed the emission test so they could change it back, do you have any idea what they may have done? It was on a miata

if your friend has a miata, then he might want to check the engine NOW. a miata will pass without a cat, (just barely) i know cause right now i have one and it is all that i drive till i get my 13b put back together

suggestion..try to pass the emissions test while you are still stock..If you are asking questions about porting then you (not raggin) perhaps don't know enough about your engine yet..and that a rotary can be picky to pass emissions..Get it to pass emissions while it is Stock(no mods)..then "upgrade" your heart out..You will get to know your car along the way..(rotary knowledge)..just my opinion though..Good luck in any path you chose to go..
