Nickel Plating

Does anybody know how well Electroless Nickel plating holds up on various parts inside a rotary engine? In particular side housings, the rotor sides and stationary gears?

I've heard Nickel Plated brake rotors hold up pretty good.

Who in here has had any moving part plated inside a rotary engine?

Thanks,
K6

I hate to be a negative Nancy but why? If it's worn beyond spec and needs grinding/lapping you'll have to get that done anyway. If you want the wear resistance back why not do what Mazda did in the first place and nitride. I'm not sure about nickels ability to withstand the heat and side seal abrasion but I would think it would hurt oil retention. Iron is very pours and wets out well to get a good oil film on it.

Thanks, I wasn't interested in it for the nickel but for a process related to it's application. I did some reading into some SAE documents of usage into it regarding piston, rotary, and, aerospace applications. That coupled with my previous experience with plasma sprays, I'm sure I have all the answers that can be given without testing of my own.
