Need advice in drag racing

A guy wants to race with me in his 99 rx7. I understand that these 99 spec rx7's have better turbos and a factory fitted downpipe so they are 280 HP factory. He also has a cat-back and intake so he'll be propbably around 295-300 HP. Whereas I have a 95 Fd with cat-back and intake, so I understand that my car will be around 270-275 HP. Now if we drag race then chances are that he'll beat me unless hes a bad shifter(which i believe he is not) What I want to know is that is there anything which I can do with my car to make it faster for that one drag race session which will probably last for only 30 secs. I've heard you can put ice on your intercooler etc. Any idea you guys have which will temporarily make my car faster in drag race for that 30 sec session so that i can beat him?? I cant put on a downpipe or powerFC or midpipe etc. as they are not easily available here and I'kk be racing him in the next couple of days. Plz any advice on making my car faster for that 30 sec session would be greatly appreciated!(Nos is also not available here)

Tires always help in racing.

Do you speed shift? It will help you a bit as long as he granny shifts. Lower your rear tires down to around 20psi for a better launch and air your front ones up to max to reduce drag. I ice my intercooler when I am at the track but he is going to see you do that. You can't ice it down then go race. Practice your launches is the best key to winning. If you can out launch him then you may be able to hang on till the finish line. Burnouts are pointless on street tires. They will not become any stickier they will actually become more slick. Just clean them off, don't sit still and roast them.

An open exhaust would make him faster but that would not be safe with no ECU.

Speed Shifting is just shifting without lifting. Never take your foot off the "GO" pedal. Shift fast and try to not bang it off the rev limiter so many times. It will help you if you can do it right. Practice at it. Make sure you shift fast.

You can do the Rikki non-sequential setup. It takes all of 30 minutes to do. If you know how to do it, you could do it in like 5 minutes. Easy way to gain more midrange. Also, speedshift. Have you been out practicing. You need to. It's not as easy as it sounds.

the way Ihave found to speed shift without killing your engine and tranny by not letting off the gas, is to lift off the gas almost all the way as soon as you hit the clutch, but as soon as the clutch is to the floor and on the way back up, slam the go peddel. keeps the RPM's closer to where they will be in the next gear. Can make some blindingley fast shifts. But you have to pratice.. period. dosent matter the method without pratice its good for nothing.

High Octane won't help. You are not upping the boost and all you will do is make your car run worse. High Octane needs tuning. Just pouring it in will not help you any.

High octane decrease combustability but decreases detonation. On a near stock car you want lower octane. (within reason) prolly 91 runs better than 93 in a stocker...

Agree?

on anything that is turbocharged you want the highest octane you can put in(pump) , for fear of detonation. the problem that we have is that any detonation will break an apex seal and ruin the engine. as far as 91 octane goes...i dont know, never tried it.

Like the guy said lower your tire pressure... Practice launching if the cars are pretty much eqaul the 1st guy out of the hole will win... the EASYEST THING TO DO is go get a boost controller... now I know you drive a 3rd gen and most 3rd gen guys opt to spend like $500 for one but go out a MANUAL boost controller... and spend about $50 raise the boost about 5 lbs make shure your running premium gas and even if you dont get the hole shot you will pass him...
