My New Best 1/8 Mile

I bought me some ET streets and headed to the track the other day. I'm running 17 psi on my T-78, which put down 440 rwhp. My driving is not to be envied. I need to work on my shifting and launching real bad. Mod list can be seen at www.royjohnsonjr.com .

My 60' was a 1.69 and I ran a 7.37 @ 93 mph. My mph is low due to my tuning only going to 7200 rpm (don't ask why, I don't know ). In a few months, I plan to install my 3 bar map and turn the boost up to around 25 psi. I'd like to get the car in the 6s.

7.37 is a pretty good 1/8th mile time.
Should go mid to low 11's in the 1/4.

If your making 440 on the dyno at 17psi your tuning cant be that bad.....unless you changed it

Anyway, nice numbers.....your 93mph is pretty low for that 7.3 et. You sure it wasnt closer to 98mph? Especially with that 60 foot time.

I was shifting at 7,500 rpms because if I run it to redline, the mph drops down to around 90 mph. For some reason, when my tuner worked on my car, he stopped the pulls at 7,200 rpm??? I believe the mph would be better if I could carry the rpms to 9,000. The car was still making power when he let out at 7,200. You can see my dyno graphs (the graph on the bottom of the page is what I'm running on) at:

Brainerd Dragstrip (1/8 mile) is about 15 minutes from my house. I go to Steele, AL to run the 1/4. It is about 1 1/2 hours from where I live.

Way good 8th mi run, Roy, but like another poster said, the trap is pretty low for the ET. What kind of slicks were you running?

i just ran an 8.35@93. also a street ported t78 car. i was on crappy 245/45/16 sumitomos and they werent even the sticky sumitomos so i had a 2.35 60ft(worst in my life with any car lol and this is my highest power-to-weight car i have ever owned although i have had higehr hp before) and i also kept destroying my tranny and tried to make the 2nd to 5th shift and gridn that ahrd and then finally went to third so i could probably expect a few more mph and a WAY lower et with some tires and better shifting.

Roy, I didnt know you were that close to me....do you actually go to Steele sometimes??? If you ever go you should PM me and I can try to meet you there, its only 30 minutes from my place. Also, if I ever go I'll PM you to let you know in case you can make it but its usually a spurt of the moment kinda thing for me. Friends call me on thier way to the track to tell me they're going so I jump in the car and go...that kinda thing.

Anyway, we should meet up sometime for that.

Also, I still say something doesnt sound quite right....you ET sounds fine but short shifting or not your mph should be like 98 or so. I ran 8.0 @ 92ish with a 1.89 60 foot. Its just wierd...maybe its the slicks throwing off your mph.

BTW - what rearend you running???
