My new 1/4 ET

Just wanted you guys to know that I ran my personal best this weekend at HRP (houston raceway park). I ran a 10.28@129mph lifting and also 10.42@117mph lifting. The reason why I lifted was because I was affraid to run into 9's and get DQ in the compeition.

Here's my break down of my runs
Qualifying run
R/T .734s
60' 1.545s
330' 4.29s
1/8 ET 6.56s
1/8mph 107.53mph
1000' 8.556s
1/4 ET 10.285s
1/4mph 128.7mph

Final Elimination run against a supra

R/T .530s
60' 1.583s
330' 4.333s
1/8ET 6.616s
1/8mph 105.54mph
1000' 8.61s
1/4 ET 10.425s
1/4mph 117.19mph

Also, The runs were made in a PRO tree so it's a .400 light and not the .500 light.....

Thumbs up

Wow, those numbers are great. Did you win against the Supra? Also, what size tires and brand are you using?

Re: My new 1/4 ET

Yes....I won the race against the supra. Actually I was very impressed with the supra since he was on drag radials and ran a best of 10.54@131mph. I was on a set of 4yrs old ET drag slicks. My 60' is kinda crappy but I'll live with it....

WOW.

Congrats Steve ! I remember about a year ago you said that your plans were to lighten the car this year. Is that what you did? If you don't mind me asking, what did you do to improve you ET? I remember you had a site setup a while back, is there a page you have somewhere with your mods? If not can you list your major mods....ie what turbo, injectors and what shot of nos. Thanks !!!

Anthony, Actually, nothing much has been changed. I increased my boost to 26psi and up the n2o jet to 75shot from 50shot. The car made 590rwhp and 500rwtq. The car also run rich 11.6-11.7 so I know I can go much faster if I want. I think the most improvement is coming from teh extra torque provided from the n2o. Other than that, I have been switching back and forth between the T66 and the T70. I just blew my T70 last week at Denver so I'm using my T66 which yeilds me the 10.28 run.....

The car still weights the same (actually 20lbs heavier@3050lbs w/ me) becuase of the scatter shield for the tranny....

Do you drive this beast on the street?????

WOW, and here I am proud of a high 11 car........you make me feel slow but I guess since I'm on stock motor/turbos its ok. Damn, everytime I feel like I've reached a stopping point with my car it starts feeling slow again.

What all does the track require for your car.....helmet, fire ext, roll cage, scatter shield, is there anything else you've had to do???

yes, I do drive it on the street. It depends on how much free time I get in between the races. I could drive in with race gas or pump gas. I don't drive it much if I'm on race gas since they're $7/gal but when I run my car on pump gas, I turn the boost down to 17psi.
As for track requirement, you'll need helmet, roll bar, scatter sheild, axle loop, driveshaft loop, 4pt harness, fire suit. if you run faster than 11.99

A driveshaft loop will catch your driveshaft and keep it from potentially pole vaulting the car should your u-joints or driveshaft break. Axleshaft loop is the same idea.

I'm still using the .96 exhaust A/R. Still using P-trim...nothing really special on the turbo...

Arrow

I wouldn't believe what Pluto says, I saw him run at Sac a month ago and there was this orange color coming out his exhaust. I think something funny is going on in his car.

Congrats on the fast times, now it is time for your NHRA license.

Jay,
I thought we have concluded that it was rust inside my midpipe?
It looks good though.

Thanks! I was pretty excited about running such a low ET. I already have my physical done. All I needed to do is to loan Ari's car to make the license pass. It shouldn't be a problem at all.

AWESOME !!!!

You did what !!!!!!!! LIFT ????

OK, you're forgiven.....the Supra never passed you

Go back out there and rip a 9 sec pass and you'll feel alot better:p

So you feel that T-66 gave you an edge or was simply the added 25hp Nos shot !!!!

Can't wait till you're next event

Good Luck,

All you need to do are 4 easy passes out of the 9's and two in the 9's and offcourse make the runs as if you're under control and know what you're doing!

It sure does look funny. My car has been sitting since May, maybe I will be like you when I start my car up and take it to the strip (with orange exhaust, not 10 second passes).

Yea...i have theh .96 A/R on both the T66 and the T70 (share the same exhaust housing). I think the T72 or the T76 maybe too big. I see alot of lag from the T70 vs. the T66. I can't imagine what the T72 and T76 feels like. I might experiment them later if I have time and $$

Yea..but i think you have to make all passes on the same car. I doubt my car can hit 9's easy.....

Re: AWESOME !!!!

I have to lift If I made a 9's pass, they can D'Q me.

They're very strict on stuff like that. My car is not legal to run 9's and I'm not legal to run 9's

Maybe when I have a chance, I'll go back out and try for the 9's.

I can't wait.

I'm not sure if the Turbo actually makes any difference but I know the extra 25hp n2o helps alot...

I'm making very consistent upper 590's so I think at the track, I'm in the 600's(more load and boost)....
