My 1/4 mile

Englishtown, NJ Raceway Park Nov.14,2001
R/T .653
60' 2.506
330 6.902
1/8 10.537@67.51mph
1000 13.663
1/4 16.294@83.37
Against a Turbo Eclipse that only ran a 14.492@91.76

This was my first night drag racing, so be gentle with the comments. I ran a 16.4 the first time and a 16.9 for my third run. The reason for the 16.9 was they were rushing EVERYONE through for the last run of the night....very quick with the tree. My car is a 1988 Madza RX-7 SE. The car is basically bone stock. It has Opak mufflers on it from the previous owner. He also had a HKS intake(which sucked) that I immediately swapped out for a K&N cone-style intake. That and I stripped down the interior a little bit. It weighs 2700lbs. with me, the passenger seat, and the spare tire in it. I weighed it at the track. I think I can get down into the high 15 second range if I learn where to dump the clutch. I think that around 4.5k would be good. Three is too low and six was obviously too high(third run ouch).

good job. i was there in the blue GTU. i wish my car weighed 2700 with me in it. mine is like 3050 with me and full interior. i think that is a big reason why 86-88's are faster in the 1/4 is due to alot less weight. good job regardless on your first time. i ran a 16.45 first time i think. with practice you can get in the 15's and i'll be pissed :p

3500 seems to be working for me when i street race. but lately i've been getting some nasty wheel hop. anyone know how to stop this? someone told me latter bars or ladder bars should stop it. can anyone back this up and give me a price range? thanks.

Thanks alot man. The thing that really ticked me off was that when I raced my friend in Amboy, I launched better then I did at E-Town. I dumped at 4.5 grand. I had him in first gear then his V-TEC kicked in. His best time was a 14.2 or 14.1. I knew that he was probably going to beat me, but I didn't care. I don't race to win....I race to race. The rush is so intense that you just don't want it to go away. I find myself going out late at night(it's all Tokyo Xtreme's fault), trying to find someone to race. I really need to stop the hardcore stuff, though. My motor just ticked over 130k last week and I think that there may be something funky going on in my tranny. I'm afraid to take it to AAmco or Lee Myles. They'll probably tell me I need a new one which I can't afford. I'm about $600 in debt right now. I'm still up for cruising, though. I'm in Central Jersey. Whoever wants to go cruisin' one day, email me: RotorHead9651@aol.com.

P.S. I'm racing that my friend's Civic again this week. Just for
$h!tS and giggles....I will do much better....

Speaking of my 1st timers, last week was my first time at LACR. I ran against a 01 celica GTS. I launched at 5000 and my tires did not grab at all. Despite his time of 15.50, I caught to him at the before the finish line at 16.23. anyway, now I want to get some drag slicks and tired of street racing. Anyone got any suggestion on what brand to get??

I am dying to race a GT-S. You know....just for the hell of it.

Rotorhead9651-1988 SE
RActive intake(got out of trade for my old sh..y *** HKS that was on there when I bought it)w/K&N Cone-style filter(yes, it whistles), OPAK mufflers(can't wait to rid these P.O.S. mufflers that came with the car off....I want my full HKS system dammit),mostly gutted interior, stock EVERYTHING else.

Future plans: haha...you're funny.....

They're not that fast if they're not driven right. I ran one at E-town that only turned a low 16. If you line up against one, you have a shot at beating them.
