mallory fuel pressure reg/gauge..

Good evening fair ladies and proper gents

I recently purchased a mallory fuel pressure regulator, and gauge, but unfortunatly i am unable to get a steady reading with the gauge, it is the same fpr as the one offered by racing beat.

I have the fpr set up with return line and inline gauge to my carb, but the highest reading i get is 4 psi, dont get me wrong but isnt the fpr a 3-12 psi? now i also attatched a cheapo gauge to the regulator directly and that one goes to about 8 lbs max. My question is... does anyone have a similar set up and can share some insight on this? i know some gauges are not exactly accurate, but how can it be so far off?

and aside from that, if i use the vacuum port, it doesnt work at all, shows no reading of pressure. Now i have ended up capping off the port.

I thank anyone in advance that can offer insight about my set up.

a little information of my fuel set up....

from the tank i used the electronic fuel pump return port as feed, filter, then straight to where the f.i. gas filter suppose to be, is my fuel pump low pressure 9 psi max. then it goes straight up to my fpr, 5/16 to 3/8 hose into 3/8 hose fitting on fpr. then from there is the outlet 3/8 hose fitting, 3/8 hose, fuel pressure gauge, filter, then carb. one of the outlet in the fpr is pluged, and one of them is fitted with the cheapo gauge. the return is 3/8 hose fitting, 3/8 hose to retun line which goes back to the tank where the f.i fuel pump line use to be, and i took out the fuel pump and used that as a return port.

any other question or if any of this information is confusing, leave a note and i will describe as best as possible. by the way i am running a mikuni phh carb they like 4.98 psi or so max. thanks.

Thanks
Ray

I'm running a Malloy 4309 fpr, Mikuni and 3/8" lines. What I have found is most gauges will not give a consistant reading. ReSpeed seel a really nice and accurate fuel gauge, give that a try. You will usually get the best reading when the gauge is first pressurized, accuracy often falls off after that.
