Lost Compression....Help, please.

I bought an 87 TII from a good friend. The engine has low compression, but it starts... I have little experience with rotary engines (UTI doesnt even wanna touch them lol). I know this can be caused by a blown seal(s) and thats as far as I can diagnose. Will an engine rebuild be needed or maybe replace the seals?....Also what other problems should i be aware with other interior components and also housings? (keep in mind the only information i got is that it has low compression) Any help would be great, thank you.

if the engine broke and apex seal(no compression), your going to need a rebuild.. or a reman. engine most people get reman's from malloy mazda.

it is not correct to assume its a blown engine just from low compression alone. a low compression non-blown engine is just a usual symptom of a high mileage rotary and if it is not rebuilt it WILL eventually blow.when? its hard to say, sorta depends on how low of a compression.

to find out for sure check this link out

as always good luck.
