KG Parts Primary Fuel Rail Leak

KG Parts Primary Fuel Rail Leak
Even with everything installed properly, I've been having problems with the KG Parts Primary fuel rail leaking when running Bosch 1600cc primaries. I polished the fuel rail injector bosses, replaced o-rings, and even went as far as buying new injectors (thinking one might be cracked) and a new fuel rail. No matter what I did, I couldn't get the injectors to seal completely. Today, I finally hit the jackpot. The upper injector o-ring for a 2002 chevy truck (fel-pro part #ES 71192) is 0.020 larger in diamter than a standard bosch o-ring. The injectors now fit snuggly, and best of all.........no leaks, even up to 80 psi fuel pressure.

I am going through the same crap right now.
It seems to me only a matter of time until the primary fuel rail leaks. At which point fuel leaks between the LIM and the block down to the exhaust manifold...
Thanks for posting the part number.

I went out and purchased 8 type of oversized o-rings today and took 4 hours to test and fit all of them in car......... NONE OF THEM WORKED to my satisfaction. A fuel injector should NOT leak when it is rotated in the fuel rail under pressure. I tried every thing that I could think of to make the orings seat in the best way possible.
...well...
It turned out that the KG primary fuel rail supplied in my rx7store ultimate fuel system is defective. The fuel injector bore is much larger in diameter than it needs to be for the oring to seal properly under use.
Since I dont have time to wait around for a new replacement rail, I will have to fabricate my own out of the same fuel rail stock tomorrow. My one of my fabricating friends happens to have all of the right equipment to get the job done.
This is the type of pure, idiotic **** that burns down people's cars.
And I am glad that I caught it before it burnt my car to the ground- because believe me, it was only a matter of time before those injectors decided to start leaking.
I do not blame rx7store at all obviously, but KG parts(or who ever made the rails) is certainly at fault here.
It is not that hard to have some quality control with things as important as fuel supply parts.

I found out that the first primary rail I had from KG Parts had a little chunk taken out of one of the injector bores, right where the o-ring sat. I ordered another, inspected it this time, and polished the injector bores with 600 grit. Seems quality control is not high on their list of priorities.

I know this thread is a bit old but i went and bough the 2002 chevy truck (fel-pro part #ES 71192)
O rings and installed my injectors on the fuel rail they fit super tight, I can be 150% sure these will never leak with these O rings. Thanks for the awesome tip (13brenova)

I had the same problem, my rail is bored too big and the injectors (Bosch 1680cc) would fit in and seal but they would come off very easily so the rail would leak when under pressure. I found the problem to actually be the bracket for the rail, if held down tightly there was no leak because the rail would try to lift off of the injectors when under pressure, and since they were so loose there was very little resistance. And the bracket that came with my rail was way too thin and would flex allowing the rail to move under pressure.
So my solution was to make a bracket with much thicker aluminum.
Sure enough I'm not leaking now.
If you look at the injectors sitting in the iron without the rail on them you'll see that the injectors are canted away from each other. Since the stock injectors are side feed this really doesn't matter but with aftermarket top feed injectors this becomes a problem. So no matter what they will have to sit in the rail at an angle.
In short, if you keep the rail from moving it won't leak.
This is a scary problem since this is what catches peoples cars on fire, but no-one really makes a good fuel rail so we're all kinda stuck.

I ended up ordering the KG 20B rails. the and in fitting the injectors I noticed that the primary and secondary fuel rail holes are not the same size. The primary hole is just a little larger.
I ordered 4 sets of the fel-pro part #ES 71192 and use double orings on each injector and was able to seal it up. Thanks 13brenova for the part number.

I don't mean to bring this up too much from the dead, but chalk up another leaky KG rail. Was researching where to get new o-rings and stumbled on this thread. Thanks for posting that part number and thanks for most likely saving me a lot of hassle with replacing o-rings with another one that would have just leaked too!

Boy those O-rings are TIGHT! I couldn't get them in there without filing them down some. But I would definitely say that should stop the leaking. Thanks again for the great tip!
Also, the screws holding on the bracket had come out on mine. If anybody else is fixing this in the future, I recommend going ahead and putting some Loctite on there!

Just wanna chime in with something I noticed on the secondary rail I just got from KG. The injector bores are different depths, so one injector fits properly with the bolts tightened down, and one is loose. Awesome.

Well 1 week and mine's already damn leaking badly again. This guy's offering one that sounds better and I'd been wanting to go to ID2000's anyway. Might be time for me to bite the bullet.

I was terrified to see a bubbling puddle of gas on my block. I'm just glad I didn't lose my car over this BS. The garbage can is too good of a fate for this worthless POS rail.
