I don't know much about cars but...

I was curious, my car has holes in teh Y piping of my exhaust and i was wondering do i just need another pipeing? from my engine to muffler? and that's it, or do i have to buy more? or less? also, are all performance exhausts aftermarket street legal and pass smog in California (Riverside) also, buying a new catylic con. is that cheap and need with exhaust?

Thanks anyone for help!

You can just get a new y-pipe if that's what you need. RB sells a replacement that will work. A stock converter will be very expensive. An good aftermarket converter should between $200-400.

Also, as you asked, there are some aftermarket cats that will pass CA emissions:

I've seen a few posts of people in CA using that replacement exhaust system and passing emissions.

I'm currently using it with a GReddy Power Extreme cat-back.

If its the stock exhaust, make sure that the holes are actually in the exhaust pipe and not in the heat shield. You can get a good y pipe for a couple hundred bucks. And the cat is easily found on the net. I would search for one first cause you can get good deals on them if you look.

I believe that I have a cat set that came off of my 88 NA. It came off with, I believe, around 60,000 miles. They have been sitting in my garage for over 5 years... I completely forgot about them. It has the 2 precats and the 1 main monolith. I'd like to sell them together... let me know if you need em.
