that's promising. not because of the hydrogen, but i've heard that hydrogen detonates very easily, so that would lead the way to lower compression renesis rotors...we may yet see 400whp on pump gas out of that engine in the future

just quickly, hydrogen can handle higher compression reatios's than the octane we use today....

Compression ratio

Could you supply more info on hydrogen's ability to be compressed more?

I am also curious to know about hydrogen's resistance to detonation.

The problem is the hydrogen supply. It is very light, so you have to have a lot of it to get the pounds of it you need to burn to make power. Either you store it as a compressed gas, and have a compressed gas cylinder at thousands of psi in your car, or you store it as liquid Hydrogen, and you must let the liquid boil off so the liquid tank doesn't explode. In 9 days your once full liquid Hydrogen tank will be empty just from sitting there. Hydrogen gas is dangerous, because you can't smell a leak, and if you have a leak and it burns, it has no visible flame for you to see. Several people have been burned from walking into a hydrogen fire they couldn't see. Several hydrogen facilities have blown up from leaks. I worked with hydrogen gas for several years as an aerospace research fuel.

It takes a LOT I repeat a LOT of energy to get hydrogen. It takes MORE energy to extract it, then you get back out of it in return. Its a fuel source that is just to costly and not energy efficient enough to mass produce. That and the dangers as just mentioned.

I had another paper like this a few years ago but I can't find it.

This is another paper titles: The hydrogen-fueled internal combustion engine: a technical review

hydrogen fuel is a realistic possibilty but the trouble to prep fuel stations and the costs to produce the fuel and the cars is a little off-setting

The RX-8 helped to open up the Norway Hydrogen Highway by participating in the Viking Rally recently.

Since I have too few posts to post the full link, here is what I can post

topnews.in/mazda-rx8-re-hydrogen-available-norway-2171614

There are a handful of H2 stations along the route in which to refuel.
