The FD manual is being used on 700hp cars, it holds up pretty well. People have broken them, but not enough to make it neccasary for an upgrade.

Torque should be your main concern. Just like when it comes to upgrading clutches.

Sorry I can't answer that question. It all depends on your driving habbits. In street driving, the manuel trannys should be able to hold up in all conditions. Speed shifting will kill your tranny quicker than anything. Also the more hp & torque you make, the more tire spin you will have. This in turn will cause less stress on the tranny ( due to no traction)but, all the stress will go to the rear end. Just be smart and your components will last a long time.

and another thing, T2's only had autos in other countries (japan for one).
All U.S. Turbo II's came originally with a manual.

uh, we gave you the info. The trannies are pretty much stout, it's the rearend and clutch you gotta watch for. There's not really a 'set' limit for the power they can take.

my auto tranny broke within an hour of getting a SMIC, PFC, and intake. I already had a DP and catback. Dyno'd @ 258 to the wheels.

Wow. Those autos really can't hold much power.

Was that dyno figure with all of those mods? Seems low......

I thought the same at the time, but Chris Ott at RP said it was about right. I didn't know enough at the time to call BullShit. I figured 255 at the flywheel stock so 258 to the wheels sounded ok to me. It was the first auto PFC they had done, and it took like 3 weeks, so I was just happy to get it back. It broke on the way home from Dallas, but I was able to get home.

As soon as you go above 400ft-lbs in torque watch out. Normaly at 450ft-lbs something is going to break. Third gear is the one that normaly goes first.

When my FD had about 300rwhp it still managed to strip third gear on street tyres. Don't know how much torque it was making though.

I'll let everyone know how much it will take. I've got a Tremec pro-shifted TKO waiting for mine.
