How much boost can stock 12a internals handle?

I've got an '81 12a mostly stock except a few minor mods; bonez race pipe, underdrive pulley, and very soon to have a Holley 45 w/ intake manifold and air intake (from Rotary Shack).

Come spring I'm finishing the exhaust system with Racing Beat's header/muffler system.

And after that.....

A custom turbo job. I've got a performance company where I live that will fabricate me a turbo manifold for a couple hundred.
Now I know that low levels of boost will be no problem for my engine (105,000mi. strong currently). I was thinking of 6 or 7psi. But how much could a 12a with stock internals handle reliably? This is my only car, a daily driver. Also, what kind of HP can I expect from this "master plan" of mine?

Use the search function.

"12A turbo" gives over 700 posts in the first gen section alone...

Yea damon, I've tried that. Even if it does give 700 posts in the 1st gen section, its still 99.9% not what I'm looking for. I've spent hours trolling these boards looking for an answer. I'm just hoping someone will take 2minutes of their time to write a simple reply.

i would say 6-7 psi would be fine. and that should make about 160 to 180 h/p to the wheels on 91 octane
hope that helps

With all the work and money for a turbo, you might as well build a good running street port N/A 12a and easily get 180+hp.

its cheaper to slap on a used turbo and a carb hat than to do a full rebuild and streetport!!

Is it? Hmm interesting! Can you explain how? What about a 12a exhaust manifold, inter cooler, etc.? I know nothing about turbo's can you break it down for me? Iam obviously interested in turbo set ups, I just always thought it was expensive and complicated? Am I wrong? hopefully!

It cost me less to port a 12A than it would cost just for the special fuel pressure regulator you'd need for a blowthru carb.

That was my take on the issue, but I like his idea! Just dont see any facts that back it up? I wish their was cheap turbo set ups! Please, if someone knows the cheap 8 psi turbo set up, SET ME STRAIGHT!

Well arguably, the fuel pressure regulator is the most expensive thing you need to buy, if you can fabricate your own exhaust manifold.

Even if you fab your own exhaust man, it is still expensive! Considering, Time is Money!
