How high can I safely rev this?

No difference. The side seals are clearanced against the corner seals (which isn't changing) and the apex seals are clearanced against the width of the rotor housing (which isn't changing).

Does anything have to be adjusted when the rotortips are clearanced? I refer to the length of the apex seals or corner seals since the rotor will be more narrow that point.
Just looser clearances on the rotor and stationary gear bearings as peejay stated earlier in this thread.

Yeah, it gets kinda 60's race car in there. Everything moves around a lot so you open up the clearances so nothing smacks itself too hard, then you open up the bearings so they don't bind when everything's getting all floppy, then you run thick sludgy oil at high pressure/volume to keep it from leaking out of the bearings too fast...

Sorry To hijack this thread , But I'm in exactly the same position as the OP .. ok well nto EXACTLy but similar hah
I'm rebuilding my engine , its getting street ported , because of a spun bearing I needed to replace my whole rotating assembly new bearings , when I was looking at bearings the high rpm bearings were specific to NA applications so I didn't get them
since everything was changed I am getting the whole assembly balanced new light weight flywheel . everything . My goal isnt to make more power up top . its just a mild raise in my safe red line .
since I auto-x I have the same issue as the OP
Most people tend to raise the rev limiter a bit in order to avoid this little problem . So I'm curious if with my build I'll be able to raise the rev limit a bit .. maybe 9000 and 8500 be my oh SHIFT moment ? with regular shifting still be at around 8k . but atleast I'll have 500 rpm to safely go into a bit
My build will be
light weight flywheel
ALS seals
med/large street port
stock twins .
and of-course balancing of the whole assembly
everything else will be stock .

Stock bearings, just some extra rotor tip clearance and higher oil pressure. This was the downswing
FD rotors should have the extra clearance already, and they run higher oil pressure than I do... You should be completely fine at 8500 (any rotary is, kinda) with 9000 still safe for momentary happenings.

Has there ever been any documented effort to modify a rotary to use a center bearing? I would imagine it would be worth it in longevity and increased rpm capability

Some of the IPRA guys in Oz did that. You need a two piece eccentric shaft to do it.
Word is that people are reverting to one-piece, two-bearing E-shafts because keeping the center bearing concentric is a bitch.
