Help, I need a wideband AF meter

Hi,

can anyone point me in the right direction. i need a wideband AF meter to street tune my car. Here in Mauritius we have no dyno facilities so have a bit of pity on me.

I would also be interested to know if I should be loking to install it permanently ot the vehicle, or just have it on when doing test runs.

Thanks

Just had a look at the Tech Edge DIY kit and I think I will try it out. Has anyone had any experience with it?

Looking at the software, it seems a bit basic, especially the dos logging utility. But as long as it does the job properly and saves me $600/$700 maybe its ok?

What dya think?

I have the Innovate! LM-1 WB. So far I'm VERY impressed with the quality and accuracy. If you can still pick one up for $349, I'd jump on it with both feet.

Their site http://www.innovatemotorsports.com/

Mmm, actually the innovate unit looks more to my liking now!

Would you mind giving any tips on setting the unit up to record the rpms too? Thats the only bit of info I can't seem to find documented.

Thanks

How long have you had the Innovative unit? Have you compared it to any other WB unit for accuracy?

I've had it about a month. There's been a whole discussion on the Haltech list. I compared it to my last dyno run's/WB logs from a couple weeks before, it looks to be spot on. I still haven't had time to set up an analog output for datalogging to my Haltech(I'm a boater too and the seasons coming to an end). I expect it will work fine.

As far as logging RPM's, you need a convertor to change rpm's to a voltage. The LM1 has the capability to datalog 5(I think) channels internally. I've hooked it to my PC and the software is excellant. It graph's everything out and all charts are scaleable.

I've yet to hear anything negative about the LM1 and I'm happy with mine.

Whoa, it says there in the nopistons forum that you dont want to exceed 850F on the sensor? Where the hell will I mount it then? Back of the car?

N/A 1st gen 12A here. RB long primary exhaust. My current narrowbands are mounted at the end of the header tubes. My EGT probes are right after that. My EGT runs 1000-1200 just driving to work.

Trevor, what ECU are You using?

If using the Power FC and the Datalogit box tuning has become much more simple.

The Techedge works great with the above.

Hi,

I only have a stock ECU for the moment. I wanted to be sure to have my tuning equipment ready before I buy the Power FC. That's the one I think I will go for.

I have had the same problem as You as far as no tuning help and had to learn myself. With the PFC/Datalogit box/Techedge WB, You should be on Your way. When You buy the datalogit box You are invited to join the group on Yahoo where You will find tons of info and maps for starting out.

As soon as I got the WB in and seen how rich I was running it was so much easier on the nerves pulling fuel. With the Datalogit/PFC/WB You can hook Your laptop up and it is very simple to log Your AFR per fuel cell and pull fuel untill You feel that You are at what AFR You desire.

i have a microtech wide band on the way, i should see it this monday. I ordered it along with the new LTX-12 for my 20B swap. If anyone is interested, i can get them this unit. We are an authorized microtech distributor hear in the states, however i am new to the line so please dont load me me with questions until i can get a little more experience with their products. I am looking forward to tuning with this system though.

I received the innovate lm-1 on last friday and installed it. The setup was really easy. The unit came with a nice bung and pkug compared the bung that you get with the fjo. The unit is rather big and the a/f numbers on the screen could be bigger. It's hard to read if you are driving the car and reading it yourself. Anyway, I hooked the unit up and found that the unit keeps shutting off. I can't seem to get it to stay on more than a minute. It's having a bad 12 volt connection. The unit would come back on when I jiggle the 12v plug that goes into the wideband unit.
