has anyone ever tried "porting" the water jacket

has anyone ever tried removing the casting edges on the rotor housing for the water jacket? I noticed a lot of buildup from the rough casting in the jacket. better flow ? less turbulence? does it even make a difference?

Considering that Racing Beat reccomends that you cut grooves around the passages surrounding the spark plugs I would guess that the added turbulence is a good thing. I suppose it gives the coolant more "dwell" time to accept heat. I did the mod on my FC.

perhaps more surface area with those grooves for better heat absorbtion, but if there were linear fins that allow more heat exchange but do not disturb flow that would be neat. lol i guess the best combo is most heat absorbed at the quickest flow.

You want turbulent flow, this will allow the water to stay in contact with the sfc. longer. If you have more of a laminar flow then it wont work as well.

I did that to my car, but it was already running pretty cool.
Of course, my modified cooling flush isn't supposed to work either...

Try and do a seach for "fc3s pro flush", and it should be in the Canadian section - we had a big debate on this a new months back.
