Gasket kits?

Hi all.

I've been doing some reading up on the different gasket kits available.

Basically i want to make my engine is reliable as possible and i've read on more than one occasion that people have had water seal problems (minor water loss after a rebuild but could possibly be a bad plate??) and also the Black oe and Viton oil control rings tend to blow by on idle and over run.

So what it boils down to is if you could choose the perfect set so you could guarantee no problems which gaskets would it be?

Or putting it another way which gaskets have you had experience with and what did you think?

i've never had a problem with any of the rotary aviation o-rings in the last 20-30 motors.

Well i've just finished putting the engine back in the car for the second time, I've used Stock water seats this time and its stoped doing it.

I thought i may have missed a Crack, maybe sonthing was a little warped or pinched the water seal but i could not find any signs?

And its funny how its working fine now?

The thing is i could not 100% say it was or was'nt the seal becouse there is so many other pipes and Gaskets that could have caused my Problem but thats the only hing i replaced so i'm Puzzled???

I've got to have a look at My car now, Its started blowing Blue smoke on Idle and quite a bit on Over run. I know thats got a fresh Turbo on so may be a Problem with that, I hope its not Engine related i've seen about as much of the insides of a Rotary as i'd like to see for a While.

rotary aviation seals work fine. you should replace your metal oil seals on the rotors if you want to ensure no oil burning. you have to clean the water seal grooves spotless for the seals to work properly. i mean totally clean.

Yeh i know its not my first rebuild

When i changed the Water seal i did'nt do much to clean it up any more, i spent along time cleaning the first time so all i had to do is wipe over with some Thinners on a Cloth dry well and put it all back. I did'nt do anything diffrent, and i'm not a Noob. The Oil scraper rings are in good Condition with an even contact line all the way round so they where properly cleaned when me engine was built, as i say this is not my Fisrst rebuild but its odd how i've had two problems in as many months.

As i say i could not 100% say it was the water seals it could have been a dodgy seal on a Pipe or anything, i could not see a problem. As for my Oil burning problem i've not looked into that yet but i'm hoping its something simple like a dodgy oil injector or Omp some thing like that.

like factory-fresh clean. i've seen a few engines where guys didn't clean the grooves well enough and popped the inner seal and cracked the land.

at the risk of redundancy, that **** has to be CLEAN!

Well my engine was spot less, also i did'nt do any more too it when i rebuilt it the second time. I just removed the Hylomar i used to fix the Seals in so they did'nt move.

After looking at the seal i took out i'd say it leaked from around the join, you can defo feel a low spot in it where its been joined together, i'm guessing it did'nt squash enough to seal properly.

Its also funny i have just done a search and found a simalar case and some one saying the same thing about the stock seals being fatter and look like they squash more?

I don't know there must be lots of them in use and i when i've rebuild Engines in the past i've not had a problem but i must have picked up a bad seal??
