You could use a VW transaxle w/ the available adapter.

I remember seeing a prototype Morris that had FWD using a VW transaxle- this is in the early 50s, before they came out w/ the FWD mini.

People do mid engine w/ these trans, so I guess you can "flip the diff" or something and put the engine in front of the transaxle.

There are lots of parts (strengthened parts, gear ratios, limited slip rears, etc) for these- but the price starts to go WAY up..

Also it puts the engine about 8" in front of the axle centerline. I guess that could suck- very high polar moment of inertia like a Subaru.

Hmm, speaking of Subaru- I remember seeing someone who had converted one to rotary. The set-up is very similar to VW transaxle, really.

hmm i dont think i could put the engine 8 inches infront of the tranny, not enough room.

Subaru huh? ill have to pop the hood on my friends subie wagon and see whats up. If i recall the fwd tranny is pretty small

It will have to be custom made. I saw a later model FWD 323 with a 13B PP so it's definately possible.
